Director, Operations and Programming

The Council of Korean Americans (CKA) seeks a full-time Director of Operations and Programming to provide operational and strategic leadership for the national nonprofit organization. S/he will be responsible for the overall design and management of leadership development programs that supports CKA’s goals of advancing the national voice of the Korean American community. S/he will manage internal operations as well as play a leading role in crafting CKA’s communication strategy, public positioning, and development strategy. The Director will report to the Executive Director. This position is based in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic support on leadership development, education, member engagement, coalition-building, and fundraising.

  • Shape CKA’s agenda positions and strategically insert the Korean American community’s voice on national matters.

  • Craft the overall communications strategy for the organization, including shaping and executing high-profile advocacy and media relations campaigns on priority events and issues.

  • Collaborate with the executive branch, congressional leaders, community-based organizations, and private sector partners to advance policies that elevates Korean American perspectives on major issues.

  • Help develop and execute CKA’s comprehensive fundraising program, including corporate and foundation proposals and grant writing.

  • Support the Executive Director as spokesperson at events and meetings with CKA members throughout the country.

  • Guides and support achieving CKA’s budget goals and performance objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree a plus)

  • Ten or more years of management and operations experience, including project management and budget

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively to senior professionals

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking

  • Ability to lead in a team environment, while handling controversial issues with confidence, diplomacy, tact, and discretion

  • Must be able to juggle multiple projects, prioritize activities, and meet deadlines

  • Must be willing to travel several times per year

Compensation

Commensurate with experience. Compensation package includes full health/dental/vision insurance coverage, 10 days of paid vacation, all federal holidays, match on company-sponsored retirement plan, and commuting benefits.
