The Council of Korean Americans (CKA) seeks a full-time Director of Operations and Programming to provide operational and strategic leadership for the national nonprofit organization. S/he will be responsible for the overall design and management of leadership development programs that supports CKA’s goals of advancing the national voice of the Korean American community. S/he will manage internal operations as well as play a leading role in crafting CKA’s communication strategy, public positioning, and development strategy. The Director will report to the Executive Director. This position is based in Washington, DC.
Provides strategic support on leadership development, education, member engagement, coalition-building, and fundraising.
Shape CKA’s agenda positions and strategically insert the Korean American community’s voice on national matters.
Craft the overall communications strategy for the organization, including shaping and executing high-profile advocacy and media relations campaigns on priority events and issues.
Collaborate with the executive branch, congressional leaders, community-based organizations, and private sector partners to advance policies that elevates Korean American perspectives on major issues.
Help develop and execute CKA’s comprehensive fundraising program, including corporate and foundation proposals and grant writing.
Support the Executive Director as spokesperson at events and meetings with CKA members throughout the country.
Guides and support achieving CKA’s budget goals and performance objectives.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree a plus)
Ten or more years of management and operations experience, including project management and budget
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively to senior professionals
Excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking
Ability to lead in a team environment, while handling controversial issues with confidence, diplomacy, tact, and discretion
Must be able to juggle multiple projects, prioritize activities, and meet deadlines
Must be willing to travel several times per year
