Fleet Manager - Oversize/Overweight Multi-Axle Heavy Haul Trucking

You are invited to join a growing heavy haul trucking company as a fleet manager. In this role you are an integral part of communication between drivers and office staff, both dispatchers and salesman. To be successful in this role you would have had experience around a heavy haul trucking company moving complex transportation projects across the contiguous United States. The right fit will have a clear understanding of how large freight fits different trailer configurations and an understanding on how to utilize larger fleets to ensure the maximum amount of work is able to be completed by the fleet while hauling freight safely and efficiently.
Purpose: Serve as driver's supervisor/representative in Operations. Manage drivers needs in identified categories and be primary communication link to drivers and dispatchers. Working to achieve optimum fleet utilization by truck/trailer unit and a clear understanding of how different types of oversize and heavy freight fits on various trailer configurations. This person will work directly with salesmen and dispatchers to increase gross revenue and meet sales and revenue goals monthly, quarterly and annually. This role is responsible for interviewing and hiring experienced heavy haul drivers for long term success with Corthell Transportation.
The person that will fill this position will be a motivated self-starter that can effectively manage their time and maintain remote communication via phone, email, internal messaging application.
Fleet Manager Responsibilities:Load the fleet to maintain and increase profitability while maintaining a solid safety record.
Communications with drivers for questions with loading, unloading, ELDs and HOS,
Participating in finance meetings, understanding sales and revenue goals, communicating those goals to salesman and dispatchers.
Increasing profitability by means of fleet utilization, increase in bid price and managing the loaded day calendar
Utilizing the fleet truck and trailer configurations for efficiency, safety and profitability.
Interviewing and hiring experience heavy haul drivers. Understanding and communicating driver pay to prospective drivers.
Availability after hours for driver and dispatcher questions. Willingness to participate in an on call rotation.
Permitting Prep for super-loads.
Route planning and difficult load permitting
Communication with dispatchers and permit technicians regarding anticipation of permit and needs
Data entry and cost tracking
Consistent communication with dispatcher & accounting teams as well as drivers
Travel of 25% is required in the beginning for training tapering off as training concludes but may be required quarterly ongoing.
1-3 years fleet management experience with a heavy haul trucking company
2-5 years heavy haul trucking company sales, dispatch or other related experience.
1-3 years Administrative Experience in related field, fleet management, dispatching, sales etc.
Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations including state specific requirements (focus on west coast and mid-western states)
Experience meeting sales and revenue goals and increasing profitability.
Strong, effective written and verbal communication with the ability to interact well with others
Able to work remotely via computer, phone, email and messaging app.
Ability to read and understand maps and routing.
Robust understanding of various truck and trailer configurations
Adaptable to a fact-paced environment
Experience with booking and using pilot cars
Problem solving skills

Compensation for this role is very DOE while staying competitive or exceeding to industry standards.
