The Position and Qualifications
Cornell College, a selective undergraduate liberal arts college located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, invites applications for a two-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Engineering or as a Visiting Professor of Practice of Engineering, beginning August 2021. A Visiting Assistant Professor must have an earned doctorate in an engineering field by September 2021. A Visiting Professor of Practice must have both a Master's degree in an engineering field and significant professional experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in mechanical, industrial, civil, or aerospace engineering and who are able to teach courses with a focus on design, manufacturing, and materials. A candidate with a Ph.D. could be considered for a future tenure-track position.

This position will support our growing, ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. Our engineering degree is integrated with Cornell's Ingenuity core curriculum and builds on the strengths of our One Course At A Time schedule, in which faculty members teach and students take one course at a time in month-long terms. Cornell's engineering program is distinguished by the integration of hands-on design projects in a majority of our engineering courses.
