Our PE/SEs will conduct forensic investigations in accordance with the scientific method, utilizing detailed field investigation techniques and command of core engineering principles. In this role, individuals can expect to gain a wide range of experiences with work on a variety of project types, sizes, durations, and levels of complexity.

Conduct investigations to determine the cause and origin of structural failures, damage, and defects for residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial structures due to a wide range of perils.
Prepare clear, concise, cohesive, accurate, and defensible reports.
Communicate regularly and directly with a variety of clients.
Manage concurrent projects with varying sizes, scopes, client types, and durations.
Provide deposition, mediation, arbitration, and/or trial testimony as needed.
Strong command of fundamental engineering principles.
Strong analytical skills and the desire and ability to tackle complex problems.
Working knowledge of building codes and the ability to conduct independent research of codes, standards, and other technical references.
The ability to clearly communicate engineering principles, verbally and in writing, to audiences with varying technical proficiency.
Adaptable in a variety of circumstances, able to read situations and people to work effectively.
Able to manage client relationships and serve in a marketing/business development capacity at meetings, lunches, dinners, etc.
Willingness to work in adverse conditions
Creative, confident, and curious; able to solve problems and think outside the box.
Technologically adept, ready and willing to learn new technology, systems, software, and equipment; experience working in research and college laboratories, a plus.
Intelligent and personable; desire and ability to multitask.
Prompt responsiveness to inquiries from peers and clients, sometimes outside of normal working hours.
Flexibility with respect to work schedule and travel. Travel is a requirement of the position, occasionally with little advance notice.
Desire to continually develop and refine technical knowledge through targeted continuing education.
Education + Experience:
Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering required with experience in forensics engineering.
Masters degree or Ph.D. in civil or structural engineering a plus.
Five to ten years of total experience preferred; candidates with less will be considered. Design experience is a plus.
Areas of interest, research, or experience in material science and building envelopes are desired, but not required.
Licensure in 10+ states a plus.
Active Professional Engineering (P.E.) license acquired by examination is required.
NCEES record desired; Completion of the 16-hour NCEES Structural exam a plus.
Any additional professional licenses or certifications (Architect, thermographer, drone pilot, registered roof consultant (RRC), SAP, etc.) as well as engineering design experience, a plus.
