Senior Back-End Engineer

We're a completely distributed team. This means we optimize our work environment to be remote-first. For those who prefer an office or hybrid environment, we have an optional in-person office in Birmingham — US or Canadian-based candidates are preferred! Our team is small but mighty (and growing!). We're seeking to add a senior back-end engineer to our team. The ideal person for this role is excited about augmenting human potential with cutting-edge AI and taking ownership of their work. They move fast without sacrificing quality and enjoy working alongside their teammates.

As an engineer in a small but growing engineering team, you will inform product decisions and collaborate closely with our product and design teams — we believe in every team member taking on areas of ownership and value accountability and transparency. This means you have more creativity and freedom to problem-solve and architect solutions. In this new and exciting industry, advancements in technology are made every day, which requires our team to be on our toes, and we are learning new things every day. • BS in CS/engineering and 4+ years of working experience or 4+ years working professionally (internships included) building web applications
• Experienced at building projects that scale with React, Typescript, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Kafka, etc.
• RESTful API experience
• Code management, testing, and review
• Proficiency with middleware, authentication, and security.
• MongoDB data management.
• API Development experience
• Excellent collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical team members
• Scrappy and self-motivated — show us any side projects you're building
• Entrepreneurial-minded. Have scaled unique technology or products and thrive in a high-paced environment, and passionate about building intuitive products that affect tens of thousands of users
• Stellar communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions
