Job Description

Chief of Corporate Communications & Growth

Under the general supervision of the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Chief of Corporate Communications & Growth is responsible for the creation and oversight of a consistent and effective internal and external communications plan across the organization; maintaining a crisis communications plan and participating in crisis communications efforts; facilitating strategic planning; leading business development efforts; and developing and implementing appropriate marketing/branding strategies to effectively tell CTS’ story.  

 As a member of senior leadership, the Chief of Corporate Communications will participate in CTS initiatives and be available to address, with Senior Management and the President, policy issues that may arise from time to time and actively participate in Board of Director meetings and support Board initiatives, if required.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Company Spokesperson and Media Contact
  • Corporate Communications: Manage, inform and develop communications both external and internal to develop and reinforce CTS’ consistent voice to all stakeholders.
  • Crisis Communications: Review, update and maintain the company’s crisis communications planning, team and activities, train crisis team on plan protocol and disseminate information as needed throughout the organization.
  • Strategic Planning: Facilitate strategic planning activities for the Board of Directors and CTS management staff;  implement the plan and provide support and coaching across the company to communicate and achieve strategic goals.
  • Business Development: Provide oversight and leadership to the Director of Business Development and the Business Development Team to increase CTS’ impact across the core Medicaid/Medicare non-emergency medical transportation services business and the Specialized Transportation services such as Special Education, Veteran’s Administration, ADA Paratransit Demand-Response, Dial-a-Ride, Workers Compensation and not-for-profit agency transportation management programs.
  • Develop new product lines to meet new or existing market opportunities.
  • Proposal Development: Manage entire proposal development process for Medicaid NEMT and larger non-Medicaid opportunities including but not limited to, evaluating opportunity, drafting and editing response, facilitating planning discussions with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), managing outside vendors or consultants as needed, supporting proposed program costing/budget development, producing final proposal and serving as point of contact for proposal from submission through award.
  • Marketing: Provide leadership for the development and implementation of the organization’s marketing activities.
  • Represent CTS at meetings, events and conferences as required.
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned by the Vice President or President that are consistent with this job description.
  • Overnight travel outside of Connecticut may be required.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and 4+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write/respond to RFP’s/RFI’s, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to Senior Management, public groups and/or Board of Directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

The ability to understand advanced computer skills and be proficient in the advanced knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access and Visio.

Scope of Responsibilities

Decisions are significant and have a major impact on the organization.  Independent, self-starting action is required.  Responsibilities include establishment of organizational strategic and short-range plans.  Objectives are within scope of organization-wide policies and common goals.  Consults with supervisor on specific matters only where clarification, interpretation, or exception to organization policy may be required.
