POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician main responsibilities is to maintain efficient Mechanical and Electrical systems throughout the facility. This position is also responsible for performing preventative maintenance and inspections.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel’s core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production
- Complete repairs for various Mechanical and Electrical systems (60% of the Job)
- Troubleshooting equipment
- Have an understanding of reading schematic as well as hydraulic and pneumatic prints
- Knowledge in what the difference is between 120/240/480 Voltage.
- Complete a wide range of plant and machine inspections to ensure that PMs are completed and filled out
- Maintains records of work performed, updates document as required manually and computer based knowledge
- Interacts and coordinates with outside contractors and vendors
- Understanding of LOTO
- Complete all work orders in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent
3-5 years prior experience in a similar role is preferred
OTHER SKILLS
Strong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively with others. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position performs work mostly in the Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions, and heights. Position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, precipitation, etc.
