Cooks Venture is seeking an Assistant Hatchery Manager to join us in our mission to change the world through food! As part of our start-up team, you'll be a key player in ensuring Cooks Venture fulfills our promise to deliver only the best in quality products to our customers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
∙ Manage and coordinate hatchery activities such as egg pick-up and deliveries, care, incubation and hatching, grading and chick processing flow from breeder farms to setters to support live production needs
∙ Manage vaccine mixing, delivery, inventory, and ordering
∙ Maintain inventories, equipment, parts and supplies as needed for operations ∙ Execute programs and processes to accomplish the best hatchability with a healthy chick ∙ Manage area to reduce stress on the chicks being processed and to ensure the best chick quality possible delivered to the farm
∙ Maintain daily sanitation and general housekeeping and coordinate necessary maintenance of the building and equipment
∙ Effectively communicate with and motivate employees in order to drive productivity and achieve company and Animal Welfare standards
∙ Accomplish all paperwork in accordance with established time frames or record keeping requirements
∙ Ensure that Animal Welfare standards are maintained and the employee training on Animal Welfare is done on schedule
∙ Any and all other duties assigned, including capital improvement projects in the hatchery
∙ Communicate and report at all levels in order to meet production expectations ∙ Follow Cooks Venture values to develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees
∙ Other duties, projects, initiatives, tasks and errands as needed
∙ Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science
∙ Prior experience working in a poultry hatchery
∙ Strong leadership skills, good judgment, and strong operational focus. ∙ 3-5 years of recent work experience in broiler management.
∙ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
∙ Accurate reporting of flock weights and rate of gain.
∙ Accurate recording of flock history.
∙ Manage parent flocks to ensure continuous availability and growth.
∙ Ability to follow all Company and departmental work and safety policies and procedures.
∙ Self-motivated and good time management skills.
∙ Must be experienced at using computer office software such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
∙ Exposure to seasonal weather conditions, to include inclement weather, on a daily basis. ∙ Exposure to dust and feathers.
∙ Ability to travel between assigned locations.
∙ Occasionally enter confined spaces.
