Job Summary

The Election Technology Engineering Manager which serves as Manager, Election Judge Training in the Election Division reports to the Deputy Clerk of Elections and oversees the training of the following group of Election Judges; Early Voting, Election Day, Nursing Home, Jail Voting, Mail Voting, Prep Judges, Tech Judges, Call Center Judges, Election Day Distribution Center, Training Judges, and Uploaders. The Manager of Election Judge Training is responsible for obtaining all training locations, preparing training curriculum and material, training all trainers for the groups of Election Judges. Responsibilities include assisting other Election Department Managers with designing Election material and manuals and creating original content for Cook County Clerk's online training curriculum and other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties
  • Work with the Election Judge Unit to determine the number of judges to be trained for each Election.
  • Work with Election Materials Coordinator on scheduling training locations
  • Provide required status reports to Elections Management staff.
  • Resolve all miscellaneous training issues.
  • Assist with Department wide Election projects.
  • Manage communications with Elections Department on Election Judge Training program.
  • Create a shared calendar so that all tasks are completed on time.
  • Update/develop statistical analysis for Election Judge Training Class results.
  • Update/develop statistical analysis for Election Judge future training needs based on comprehensive review of election day reports.
  • Assist with post-election canvass.
  • Provide written correspondence to Election Judges
  • Coordinate Online Election Judge Training
  • Train, schedule and manage Election Judge Trainer(s) for the following Judge groups:
  • Early Voting, Election Day, Nursing Home, Jail Voting, Mail Voting, Prep, Tech, Call Center, Election Day Distribution Center, and Uploader
  • Monitor the training daily, including the number of Election Judges assigned to each group and class.
  • Prepare all Election Judge training curriculum, materials and manuals for following Judge groups:
    • Early Voting, Election Day, Nursing Home, Jail Voting, Mail Voting, Prep, Tech, Call Center, Election Day Distribution Center, and Uploader.
  • Update/develop training curriculum for the following Judge groups:
    • Early Voting, Election Day, Nursing Home, Jail Voting, Mail Voting, Prep, Tech, Call Center, Election Day Distribution Center, and Uploader.
  • Order training supplies and materials for all Election Judge groups.
  • Provide instruction to Election Judge Trainers for the following Election Judge Groups:
    • Early Voting, Election Day, Nursing Home, Jail Voting, Mail Voting, Prep, Tech, Call Center, Election Day Distribution Center, and Uploader
  • Attend and critique Election Judge training sessions scheduled throughout Cook County

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or a General Education Development (G.E.D.)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience working with the training of Election Judges (Poll workers) for an Election Authority.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience writing and or drafting training manuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in Adobe suite
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with online training program(s).

CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PROOF OFEDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS AND ANY APPLICABLE

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATIONS AS LISTED ABOVE AT THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the election process including a basic understanding of working in accordance with statutory guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts or problems with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service, including always maintaining a professional demeanor while communicating with township committee people and election judges.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to work well as part of a creative and problem-solving team.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize for optimum results.
  • Ability to work under pressure while multi-tasking and be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work overtime including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the election cycle.


Physical Requirements
  • Required to sit for one hour at a time.
  • Required to stand for 30 minutes or more at a time.
