Position Overview
Performs efficient installation and assembly of office furniture within client facilities, including systems furniture, case goods, accessories, wall-hung units, etc. Responsible for timely completion of the work with a high level of workmanship and a high degree of customer satisfaction. Specific skills and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Personal and Interpersonal Skills

    • Has the ability to understand and carry-out directions from leads and field supervisors;
    • Is professional in appearance and manner;
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
    • Physical strength and stamina required to lift and move furniture, boxes, and equipment, often in excess of 50 pounds; and
    • Strong work ethic and very ethical approach to business; punctual and self-motivated; able to work irregular hours and extended shifts, including overnight out-of-town assignments.

Technical and Product Skills

  • Mechanically adept and knows how to safely use tools and equipment;
  • Understands basic installation processes: unloading, loading, staging, uncartoning, panel assembly, component assembly, cleanup and detailing, lock installations, etc.;
  • Knows how to assemble, fine-tune and detail panels, electrical parts, components, case goods, seating, filing, tables, etc.;
  • Can read plans, blueprints, and elevations; understands architectural and furniture symbols;
  • Capable and efficient in the assembly of furniture, resulting in quality workmanship;
  • Knowledgeable of most major product lines the dealership represents; understands most product specifications and descriptions; can identify basic finishes, colors, and fabrics; knows correct application and assembly for products; knows how to make most mechanical adjustments (drawers, slides, etc.);
  • Understands basic electricity and systems furniture electrical component installation;
  • Takes ownership for assignment results and details; follows through to assignment's finish; and
  • Treats client property responsibly, including buildings, equipment, and furniture; treats Company tools, equipment, and vehicles responsibly, keeping them clean and in proper working order.

Administrative Skills

  • Understands and follows through with consistent and accurate paperwork-receiving documentation, detailed timesheets, client sign-offs, punch list items, change orders, product return forms, inventory check-out, etc.;
  • Paperwork is neat, intelligible, and complete, done in a timely manner on a daily basis;
  • Communicates task status and problems to field supervisors/lead installers and dispatcher in a timely and clear manner from the job site;
  • Able to carry out assignments with little or no supervision;
  • Able to pre-plan small assignments, including field measurements and site reviews;
  • Able to analyze assignments for the correct tool, supply, and equipment requirements, as well as small parts and product pulls from the warehouse;
  • Able to punch and close-out a work order, using proper procedures and forms; and
  • Capable of managing small installations and crews up to five stations.

Other Skills

  • Comfortable and capable of safely driving a 24' straight or cube truck;
  • Maintains a good driving record and follows all DOT rules and regulations;
  • Follows all Company and job site environmental and safety regulations;
  • Understands furniture material handling and logistical processes;
  • Able to receive and document receipt of product in a thorough and accurate manner;
  • Has a strong customer service attitude and manner; communicates easily and clearly; is polite and cordial in all customer interactions; and
  • Understands customer satisfaction focus of the installation team and consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations.
