Hannibal Laborer Job Description

Objective:

The prime objective of the Hannibal Laborer to perform general clean-up work throughout the plant, lawn work, labor work involved in refractory replacement in kiln and cooler, snow removal from roadways and sidewalks and painting.

Organization Structure:

The Hannibal Laborer to the Yard Supervisor. The Hannibal Laborer has no direct reports.

Tools & Equipment:

Laborer must be able to operate hand tools, jackhammers and various types of mobile equipment.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.

  • Performs general clean-up work throughout the plant including inside and outside buildings.

  • Cleans up material spills.

  • Performs lawn work as needed.

  • Performs outside labor work involved in refractory replacement in kiln and cooler, snow removal from roadways and sidewalks, painting, etc.

  • Operates mobile equipment as needed.

  • Assists other job classifications as needed.

  • Provides vacation relief in other job classifications as needed.

  • Responds to reasonable emergency call outs on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Ability to physically perform the essential job functions for the position.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Ability to work overtime, all shifts, weekends and holidays.

  • Must demonstrate good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.)

  • Proficient in English language.

The employee is frequently required to climb ladders. The employee frequently is required to communicate orally and in writing. The employee will frequently be required to walk on gravel covered surfaces that may be wet and/or in artificially lit conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must continuously move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, artificial lighting, and excessive heat. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
