Hybrid – 3 days a week - Montvale, NJ 07645

Overview:

Our client is a large manufacturer of premium and commercial paints, stains, and other architectural coatings that is looking for a Product Manager to join the Digital Team. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days on site at their Montvale, NJ office.

 

 

Job Summary:

 

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is an essential member of the Program Management Office (PMO) and will report to the Director, Program Management Office & IT Governance. The RTE is a servant leader and coach for an Agile Release Train (ART). Working as one of the three primary members of an Agile Release Train’s (ART) Program Team the RTE facilitates ART processes and execution. They escalate impediments, manage risk, help ensure value delivery, and help drive relentless improvement. The RTEs major responsibilities are to lead and facilitate ART events, and processes and assist the teams in delivering value.  RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk and drive relentless improvement.  The RTE is also a people manager of Scrum Masters.

 

Responsibilities:

Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators

• Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)

• Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events

• Facilitate the PI planning event

• Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency

• Assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities

• Facilitate periodic synchronization events, including the ART sync

• Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary

• Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets

• Help manage risks and dependencies

• Escalate and track impediments

• Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks

• Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering

• Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment

• Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand through a Continuous Delivery Pipeline

• Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle

• Work with the Program Management Office (PMO) on program execution and operational excellence

• Understand and operate within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails

• Facilitate System Demos

• Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve

• Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices

 

 

Building Organizational Capability

• Lead, manage and develop a team of Scrum Masters

• Coach and mentor direct reports on Agile best practices

• Work with HR and staffing agencies as needed to recruit talent required for ART’s

 

Required Skills and Experience:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business (or Management), Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required

• MBA or other Advanced degree (preferred)

• Certified SAFe® Scrum Master (CSM)

• Certified SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE)

• Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (preferred)

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in Scrum Master and/or RTE roles

• Proven experience implementing ARTs in SAFe® / Agile environment

• Demonstrated characteristics of Servant Leadership

• Ability to collaborate while maintaining independent judgment

• Advanced knowledge of Lean-Agile practices

• Experience in program management, digital program management office coordination, dependency management (business/technology)

• Understands unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program

• Experience with geographically distributed teams

• Experience in organizational development, change and culture

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to deliver Leadership level presentations

• Expert with Agile tools and technologies (e.g., JIRA, Confluence
