Mental Health Therapist

At Connections365, we work to bring healing to youth and families through various behavioral health services including treatment foster care, mentoring, outpatient mental health and residential care. We are currently hiring full-time therapists to provide individual, group and family therapy to youth, adults and families in our outpatient mental health program.

Job Description:

The Therapist I position is considered a qualified mental health professional (QMHP) based on education and experience. As such the Therapist I shall provide individual, group, and family therapy and/or supervision, if appropriate. The Therapist I position is responsible for planning, providing, and assessing treatment services and performance in all mental health/mentoring programs. This position may be responsible to directly supervise subordinate mental health and mentoring staff in their day-to-day performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must meet one of the following:

  1. License to practice medicine in the State of Oregon;
  2. Graduate degree in psychology;
  3. Graduate degree in social work;
  4. Graduate degree in psychiatric nursing and licensed in the State of Oregon; or
  5. Graduate degree in another mental health related field with a license to provide counseling services.

2. Must be a registered intern with OBLPCT or equivalent board or become a registered intern for licensure within 90 days of employment.

3. As evidenced by previous work experience, academic background, and in service or other training, the Therapist I shall demonstrate a working knowledge of the following:

  1. Normal process of child and adolescent growth and development;
  2. Dysfunctional families and family systems counseling; and
  3. Mental and nervous conditions of childhood, adolescence and adults.

4. Training, knowledge, and experience demonstrating competence in building and maintaining working relationships with children, adults and families needing intensive family services, mental health services or out-of-home placement.

5. Working knowledge of planning for and implementing contact with community resources on behalf of clients.

6. For person recovering from the disease of alcoholism or other drug addictions, continuous sobriety for the past three (3) years.

7. Valid Oregon driver’s license, personal auto liability insurance, and a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability.

8. Must possess and maintain personal liability insurance.

9. Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history check, reference checks, employment history and educational verification, or licensing. Arrest and/or conviction of a crime does not automatically disqualify an applicant.

10. Successfully pass a routine random drug and alcohol screen as a post-employment requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direct services to clients through individual, group, and family therapy.
  2. Provides accurate and timely reports, treatment plans, comprehensive assessments, and other documentation, as necessary, for clients referred.
  3. Determines appropriateness of clinical services.
  4. Evaluates services provided and client progress.
  5. May provide in-home and out-of-home services.
  6. Provides systemic, short-term services to clients and families.
  7. Consults with on-going workers about client planning.
  8. Consults with caseworkers as needed.
  9. Consults with outside Clinical Supervisor, as needed.
  10. Provides Family Unity Meetings, as appropriate.
  11. Participates in agency and specialized training and development programs.
  12. Participates in Citizens Review Board and court appearances as necessary.
  13. Adheres to appropriate screening and intake procedures.
  14. Complies with Connections365 policies and procedures and local, state, and federal guidelines.
  15. May provide designated hours of milieu support for youth in the OYA residential program and document services provided.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
