Windows Server Administrator

The Connection team has an awesome opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Systems Administrator in Ossining, NY. This is a direct hire opportunity with our client in the biotech industry. This position is onsite and responsible for day-to-day operations, availability, reliability, scalability and security of all production data platforms and back-office servers, networking, and storage systems. Qualified candidates will be able to lead activities such as system builds, application installation and configuration support of Windows server system in a VMware virtual environment.

Direct hire position. Full benefits, 3 weeks PTO first year. 401k. 80% hands on and 20% administration, Windows environment. M-F 8am-5pm.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and virtualization
• Manage Storage NAS and SAN
• Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
• Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
• Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
• Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
• Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
• Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance

We Value:

• 3-5 years of Systems Administration experience
• VMware vSphere environments (5.5 or higher)
• Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 (focus on Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Group Policy, File/Storage Services, & PowerShell scripting)
• Microsoft Office 365 (Email, Azure, OneDrive)
• Antivirus & Email Security products
• Network design (LAN/WAN expertise, firewall, DNS, TCP/IP, switching and routing, & VPNs)
