Overview

The Senior Vice President, Finance has full oversight and responsibility of all areas of finance including management reporting, financial planning & analysis, forecasting, budgeting and all treasury functions necessary to provide insightful, value-added analysis across APCO Holdings, LLC and subsidiaries in accordance with U.S GAAP. This individual will have responsibility for enhancing and maintaining financial systems and the management of financial data. In addition, this individual will interface with the senior leadership team, functional business leaders at various levels of the company, as well as lenders. This position is at the forefront of driving implementation of best practices, defining new processes and is also responsible for maintaining and implementing new enterprise-wide accounting policies, process improvements, system implementations/upgrades, providing insights to drive improved business performance, and onboarding and accounting for new acquisitions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead Finance & Accounting teams in planning of strategic initiatives, and execution of business objectives.
  • Provide financial expertise to the CEO, the Executive team, and the operating companies to mitigate and minimize the organization's financial risk.
  • Lead and assist in the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, which will include consideration of developments in the business and the economy.
  • Develop the strategy and implement financial data management processes
  • Enhance and maintain financial systems include the general ledger and planning tools
  • Provide Monthly and Quarterly Actual vs Budget reporting and analytics.
  • Create financial models for short, medium, and long-range planning.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis that provides insights into business performance.
  • Analyze cross-functional information to support executive management decision making.
  • Engage with members of the business, including senior management, to develop metrics and reporting that will assist with developing insights into the performance of the business. This would include developing models that would translate operational performance into expected financial results.
  • Ensure processes are established to monitor the liquidity and capital structure of APCO. This would include working with lenders, banks, and internal stakeholders (senior management, BoD) to communicate results, analyses, and insights to the current and expected future performance and condition of the business and its financial position.
  • Ensure that reported financial and operational results comply with U.S. GAAP, and regulatory reporting guidelines as well as with company-established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for leading the Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, Treasury and Financial Systems teams including talent development and succession planning.
  • Oversee the Company's adoption and implementation of new accounting policies including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and the current expected credit loss standard (CECL).
  • Manage the relationship with the external auditors and the audit of the consolidated financial statements as well as the application of technical accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain a system of internal financial controls designed to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy of the Company's reported financial results.
  • Oversee the financial management of consolidated subsidiaries including monitoring the monthly close process and compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the stand-alone audit for the Company's captive insurance subsidiary as well as compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Work with the Director of Accounting Systems, the IT Department, and the Finance team to ensure that the Finance and Accounting ERP systems are properly recording and reporting financial information and that effective internal controls are maintained.
  • Assist with the successful onboarding of new acquisitions and business activities and the successful divesture and transition of non-core business activities.
  • Oversee the accounting for complex transactions (i.e., acquisitions, debt refinancing etc...)
  • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing level to effectively achieve the department's annual budget, goals, and objectives.
  • Assist the CFO with the oversight of tax accounting and compliance for all entities of the Company.
  • Assist the CFO with the oversight of risk management functions engaged in by APCO with its insurance carriers and dealer customers.
  • Assist the CFO with other projects as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations or Dynamics AX preferred
  • 15+ Years of progressive corporate accounting experience.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in Finance, Treasury, Deal structuring and stakeholder relations.
  • Track record of building, leading and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Prior financial systems implementation experience preferred.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings.
  • Public accounting experience and/or financial reporting experience with a SEC registrant strongly preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of accounting processes, internal controls, and U.S. GAAP.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, mentor, develop and teach through others.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience leveraging technology to improve processes, to produce more timely and accurate information and to drive decision making.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational agility with the ability to interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong technical acumen with a proven ability to apply accounting rules in the context of, and in support of, business decision-making.
  • Hands-on, self-directed, and process-oriented
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type and look at a computer screen for long periods of the day. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time.
