Professor of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, invites applications for a one-year full-time faculty member contract beginning in July 2023 with the potential for a longer term role. The individual should demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship in the discipline of chemistry. The faculty member will teach courses in our Enduring Questions and Ideas Core Curriculum and other courses in the department, as well filling roles in advising, mentoring, assessment, program recruitment, and university service.

Qualifications: A terminal degree (PhD) in chemistry seeking a post-doc experience is preferred. An MS in chemistry with appropriate professional experiences will be highly considered. Competencies in organic chemistry, analytic chemistry, and a willingness to teach general and introductory chemistry courses and mentor students in research are desired.

Appointment: The position is a full-time position that will require being on the Irvine campus and comes with full rights as a full-time faculty member for the length of the contract. The faculty will be expected to teach courses in CUI's Enduring Questions and Ideas Core Curriculum, in their department majors and possibly other courses in the university per their individual competencies. They will be expected to participate in events related to the Q&I Curriculum on campus, including convocations and requirements of full-time faculty with respect to service to the Institution, the Academy, as well as to the church and community.
