The Manufacturing Engineer is capable of performing critical functions in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment including production cost reduction, time study and methods/process analysis, facilities planning and work cell design, equipment research and acquisition, fixturing design, safety and ergonomics enhancement, and implementation of ISO 9001 Quality System standards and methods.

Expected Hours of Work

Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Overtime may be required, to include weekends.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from change and improvements.
  • Lead equipment recommendation, acquisition, and implementation.
  • Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals and performance quotas.
  • Read, comprehend, review, and utilize 2D and 3D blueprints and models.
  • Design jigs, fixtures, and equipment using SolidWorks.
  • Develop, apply, and own lean manufacturing principals and single piece flow in a flexible manufacturing environment to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Lead and promote continuous improvement techniques including Kaizen events, 5S and Root Cause Corrective Action.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Line Management, Project Management and Quality.
  • Participate in product development reviews to provide input for manufacturability which results in improved designs.
  • Perform hands on tasks in manufacturing to develop understanding of processes and procedures.

  • Must possess strong technical communication skills, organization skills, ability to prioritize, and detail oriented.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by company policy.

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Welding, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering

Work Experience

Required: 2 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience

Preferred: 2 years of SolidWorks 3D Modeling

Licenses and Certifications

Preferred Upon Hire or In Progress: Certified SolidWorks Professional certification

Physical Demands

Frequently: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Reaching, Handling, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions, Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination, Close and Distance Vision, Lifting 50lbs (can be assisted), and Carrying 25lbs.

Rarely: Pushing, Pulling, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, and Crawling.
