Job Description

Job Title: Network Engineer  
Location: Oakland, CA & Hayward, CA
Duration- Full Time

The Senior Network Engineer performs activities required to design, build, deploy and support Fremont Bank’s Enterprise LAN/WAN network and supporting branch operations, production datacenters, applications, telephony and video systems and other devices. This is a technical position, and requires strong troubleshooting and analytical skills - combined with a keen ability to communicate well in both verbal and written form.

Role and Responsibilities
•    Identification, diagnosis, and resolution of network problems
•    Install, configure and manage network infrastructure devices (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers and AP's, SSL VPN, WAN compression, F5 Load Balancers, etc.)
•    Do technical design for projects and major changes
•    Create work breakdown structure and estimate high level effort for individual tasks
•    Share tasks across the team and lead work items to closure
•    Respond, troubleshoot, identify root cause and remediate issues in a complete, documented and timely manner
•    Ensure that appropriate monitoring, alerting and logging mechanisms are in place and functioning optimally all the time
•    Performance analysis and capacity planning for network circuits and devices
•    Ensure network devices are configured and maintained in accordance with appropriate standards, best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements
•    Maintain network equipment for worldwide sites. Replace hardware (working with on-site resources), resolve technical issues and manage support with manufacturers and ISPs
•    Maintain and ensure that backups of all configurations are done on a routine and consistent basis, keep firmware up-to-date
•    Utilize and follow the change management process for network changes
•    Provide Level 3 support to Network Operations for all LAN/WAN issues
•    Effectively communicate both technical details and summarized impact analysis to Management
•    Provide necessary network infrastructure support for day to day operations and appropriate disaster recovery procedures to support business continuity
•    Keep abreast of new technologies and recommend adoption as appropriate
•    Identify areas for automation or other process improvement
•    Participate in team on-call rotation and provide support during project and operations related cutovers
•    Ensure network equipment is upgraded in line with vendor recommended operating system
•    Create, maintain and ensure the accuracy of all documentation related to network hardware, software, configurations and processes

Minimum Qualifications
•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
•    Expert knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and software - Cisco CCNP or equivalent work experience
•    Hands-on Senior Network Engineer with over 10 years of experience in network design, architecture, administration of multi-platform LAN/WAN environments
•    Solid understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols
•    Demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot problems in complex systems and network environments
•    Experience with WAN support in networks involving MPLS, DMVPN and public internet links. 
•    Extensive experience with both interior and exterior routing protocols, including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and VPN technologies
•    Experience designing and supporting high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments
•    Experience building and implementing Cisco ACI network and Vcloud environment preferred
•    Require extensive experience in LAN/WAN architecture, proxy servers, network design and implementation, network troubleshooting, network hardware configuration, and network performance tuning
•    Experience supporting secure enterprise wireless networks; including Meraki knowledge and experience 
•    Experience with Cisco Nexus 5K/9K, VXLAN, Cisco Telephony and Call Manager, Cisco UCS is a plus
•    Wireless LAN technologies like Cisco, Aruba or Meraki
•    Experience deploying and managing SNMP-based network monitoring tools such as NetBrain and Solarwind Orion
•    Good working knowledge of Cisco ASA firewalls and Nexus-series switches
•    Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members, attention to details, communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
•    Enthusiastic, team player, initiative and commitment to quality preferred
