Job Description

Position Available:

We are looking for a Purchasing Agent with previous experience in a manufacturing environment

Purchasing Agent Responsibilities:

  • Researching and comparing suppliers, materials, and supplies
  • Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency
  • Purchasing: This includes working with vendors, knowledge of locating materials and supplies, setting up new vendors
  • Ensure that the necessary material is in house to meet production schedule
  • Communicate with manufacturing in the event of any delay, change, or other concern that impacts the shop floor
  • Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
  • Managing and organizing of inventory
  • Physical hand count of inventory at month end
  • Job cost allocation of direct materials
  • Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices
  • Preparing and processing purchase orders
  • Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, and receipts
  • Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries
  • Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations

Purchasing Agent Requirements:

  • Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a Purchasing Agent can be substituted for the educational requirements
  • Previous experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar position
  • Proficiency in inventory management software programs
