Program Director – Mental Health Services for Transitional Residential Program

Hours: This is a salaried position. This position will require 24 hour availability for consultation purposes or to assist with coverage at the program.

Salary:  $78,000 per year

Program Overview:

Located in Oceanside, CA, Casa Pacifica is a transitional residential program that assists people with chronic mental illness and dual diagnosis to move towards recovery and independent living.  It is a Full Service Partnership and offers clients mental health services including psychiatric care, assistance with medication management, individual and group therapy, vocational assistance, case management, and peer support.

The residential component of the program is 6 to 9 months long and graduates can participate in an alumni program that will assist in their transition to a more independent lifestyle.

Typical Duties of the Program Director

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the assigned program, to include all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, staff management, client care, and quality assurance and control.

  • Provides overall management and coordination of all program operations and services
  • Management and supervision of: service delivery and client care; contract compliance according to County, State, and CARF regulations; budget monitoring; employees and consultants; staff training and development; and quality control and safety procedures
  • Oversees all admissions to the program and coordinates care with other mental health providers and community resources
  • Available on a 24 hour basis for program consultation and crisis intervention if needed
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and consultative culture within the program to optimize service delivery
  • Acts as a role model for client care as well as provides hands-on assistance for program staff as appropriate

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in a mental health-related field
  • CA license or license eligibility as Psychologist, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Experience working with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders
  • A minimum of 2 years of management/supervisory experience required
  • Strong clinical skills and an ability to handle high stress and fast-paced environments
  • Experience providing MediCal/Medicaid services
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
  • Reliable transportation is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. A valid California driver’s license in good standing and proof of insurance are required for employees driving personal vehicles on company business.
  • Ability to pass criminal/background clearance
