VP, Medical Education and Research oversees the administration of Medical Education programs at CMC hospitals. Serves as a liaison with any Designated Institutional Official (DIO). Supervises research activities at CMC facilities.
-Serves as the CMC administrative point of contact for all medical academic programs.
-Works collaboratively with CMC leadership and the Sponsoring Institution GME program leaders to understand challenges and create solutions regarding GME.
-Stays well-informed of any changes to rotations that would affect reimbursements from CMS such as new out rotations to other hospitals.
-Collaborates with the CMC leadership to establish budget and monitors expenses.
-Develops process plans and communication to successfully implement needed changes to medical education in the system to meet Sponsoring Institution and CMC goals as well as community need.
-Evaluate current programs for effectiveness to meet agreed upon goals and opportunities for new programs based on community need and financial stewardship.
-Attends GMEC meetings and provides information as needed.
-Works with CMC Risk Management to make sure that any adverse actions regarding residents have been reported to GME program director.
-Review all contracts with academic affiliates at regular intervals with CMO to keep alignment in place.
-Coordinates research activities and budgeting across CMC system
Experience and education minimum requirements:
-Requires an MD, DO, PhD or EdD degree.
-A minimum of five years of experience in graduate medical education as a DIO, Program Director, or VP of GME in a multi-program setting.
-Extensive knowledge of GME including requirements that are basic and for each specialty. Working knowledge of ACGME accreditation, applications and ongoing accreditation.
- Familiarity with software for GME programs (New Innovations or MedHub)
-Post-graduate education in healthcare administration, public health, or an MBA desirable.
