Job Description

As a member of the health center’s integrated care team the Lead Medical Assistant will fulfill the following KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES towards the provision of patient centered, coordinated patient care:
• Measuring and recording vital signs
• Recording patient interview, history, and chief complaint
• Upload external records and / or preload immunizations
• Preparing patients for examination and performing routine screening tests
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Adhering to common safety hazards and precautions
• Performing EKGs
• Skill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance
• Skill in developing and resolving problems
• Communication skills using appropriate medical terminology
• Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public
• Perform outreach calls to patients and / or specialty offices as requested
• Perform Pre-Visit Planning for targeted quality measures
• Checking electronic outbox of providers and address urgent issues
• Completing EHR data entry
• Following up on patient care as requested
• Assist in ordering and maintaining clinical and office supplies and equipment
• Assist in the solutions of problems as directed by the Health Center Manager
• Working on-site is an essential duty for the job.
• This position may require travel between CCI sites to provide additional coverage when needed.
• Other duties as assigned

• Perform sterile procedures
• Perform cleaning specifications of various medical equipment, fixtures, utensils and related
• Prepare and administer vaccines
• Properly distribute inventory
• Maintain supplies, equipment and /or maintain quality control standards.
• Safely utilizes cleaning solvents and related products.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
• Data entry skills
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standards.
• Knowledge of methods, procedures, and protocols, including federal, state, and local laws for the handling and disposal of hazardous biochemical waste products.
• Computer skills a must
• Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Preferred Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
• Three (3) or more years of Medical Assistant experience
• Must have High school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed and graduated from a medical assistant program with a minimum of five years of experience as a medical assistant
• Must have skills, ability, and temperament to train new employees
• Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Performs standard tasks associated with patient care with minimal oversight from supervisor.
• Receipt of high-level ratings on the past 3 performance evaluations.
• Proper and professional grooming is always expected.
• Work under stressful conditions within a controlled enclosed environment daily. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

• OSHA Category 1. Clinical environment. Possibility of exposure to chemicals and infectious body fluids e.g., HPV, HIV, HEP C, HSV.
