Hours/Week: 40 hours Location: Any CBNA Service Center (VT, NY, or PA Offices)

Summary:
The Special Assets Officer is member of the team responsible for managing a portfolio of problem commercial relationships and acquired assets typically classified at substandard or worse.

Education, Training and Requirements:
• B.S. degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience.
• Specialized banking education and training will also be required.

Skills:
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong background in credit analysis and knowledge of commercial workouts, including bankruptcy, foreclosure and other liquidation strategies

Experience:
• Minimum of five (5) years in commercial lending, commercial credit, workout, or other applicable banking experience.
• Two (2) years of Commercial Workout experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Oversees the directly assigned portfolio of problem commercial relationships and acquired assets with emphasis on the following:
• Negotiating effectively with all parties in the workout function to ensure the best outcome for the Bank.
• Ensuring timely loan payments and submission of financial statements or other deliverables required by loan documents.
• Ensuring proper approval for recommended actions.
• Work closely with attorneys and other outside parties to ensure the following:
• Effective review of collateral files when needed.
• Timely inspections and valuations of collateral.
• Expeditious treatment of foreclosures and other liquidation proceedings.
• Proper management and the timely sale of any foreclosed real estate (ORE) or other acquired collateral.
• Full awareness of and compliance with the Bank’s and regulatory policies regarding commercial workouts including, but not limited to, non-accrual treatment, risk rating, and charge offs.
• Provide monthly updates to management regarding the current status of the assigned portfolio, including action plans and collateral values.
• Establish and meet a reasonable timeframe for the resolution of assigned loans.
• Provide guidance, as appropriate, to commercial bankers and retail bankers regarding potential problems on their commercial lending relationships.

Other Information:
As an integral member of the Special Assets Department, this position is also responsible to provide assistance wherever necessary to help the Special Assets Department and the Bank achieve annual goals.
