Job Description: Community Alternatives is in search of a HERO to join our AWESOME support team! While we continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve by providing alternative solutions of support for diverse individuals challenged with substance misuse or a disability, we are searching for the next Direct Support Champion to help our cause in this difficult time. ***All screening questions and detailed resume must be submitted for possible virtual interview consideration** Job Title: Residential Services Director (Human Services-Adult Disabilities) Department: VAP Reports To: VP of VA Programs/Designee Programs FLSA Status: Exempt Summary Directs CAI residential group home services and associated staff to provide individuals the most beneficial, living environment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Must possess a valid VA driver’s license - Must include a detailed resume, references and applicable certifications - Must pass an extensive background check - Must be a local resident with extensive recent Human Services experience in Virginia only QUALIFICATIONS Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Recreation Therapy/Management, health oriented disciplines, or Psychology and documented experience working directly with individuals who have mental or other developmental disabilities;Ten years related experience and progressive supervisory experience;Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ______________________________________________________________________ DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Coordinates and directs the day to day operations of the residential group homes. Directly supervise staff activities and manages the program operations. Assist with problem solving techniques, and positive behavior support. · Ensures program compliance with regulatory standards to include DMAS, OHR, DBHDS, HCBS, CARF and agency protocols. · Conduct staff meetings; provide training designed to ensure accurate documentation, enforcement of appropriate positive behavior support techniques, adherence to program policies and rules, and the assurance of a safe and sanitary environment. · Coordinate Person-centered Individual Service Plans every year to assess individual progress, ensure participation in valued activities of individual choice and establish skill-building programs for activities of daily living. · Administer and monitor the petty cash fund. Check receipts and balance funds as well as distribute funds when needed to the staff · Train new staff on policies, procedures, DSP competencies and documentation practices as well as provide follow-up training for the new staff. · Ensure completion of all paperwork in a timely manner including but not limited to Person-centered Reviews (PCR’s), PC-ISP summaries, data forms, various medication sheets, daily progress notes, and QA forms. · Prepare performance reviews for staff. · Assists VA program leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of activities and programs for individuals receiving services to ensure choice is honored at all times. · Participates in community outings to help individuals socialize in the community. · Responsible for the completion of specific individual assessments · Participates in the development of quarterly reports and Individual Service Plans. Monitoring of individual progress, insurance of participation in valued activities of individuals' choice and establish training programs for daily living skills. · Attends individual specific treatment team meetings when needed. · Responsible for the tracking, completion and submission of all individual/agency paperwork within their specified time frames. · Train and assist staff in developing and implementing Person-centered Individual Service Plans which create individual programs that ensure participation in valued activities of individual choice and establish skill-building programs for activities of daily living. · Ensure the service provision adheres to contractual guidelines, if applicable. · Coordinate with other agencies and departments, as well as parents and advocates on individuals behalf to solve problems and provide assistance. · Substitute for staff in case of an emergency by assisting with individuals' community and residential home activities. · Coordinates facility needs with CAMG and VA program leadership to ensure the home meets all regulatory standards and expectations at all times. · Communicates regularly with all members of an individual’s support team to include family members, case managers, legal guardians and healthcare persons. · Ensures the medical and physical needs of each person are met by coordinating all aspects of care with the individual’s healthcare team. · Accepts on-call responsibility 24/7. · Perform other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the VP of VA programs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervise staff in the residential services program to include senior and direct care staff.Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable lawsResponsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. COMMUNICATION SKILLS · Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. · Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. · Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS · Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. · Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY · Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. · Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES · Adapt to ever changing situations and needs of individuals. · Excellent oral and written communications skills are required to effectively communicate with individuals, staff, families and other outside agency personnel. · Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. · Computer competency is mandatory.
