Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Plan
CAPSLO offers benefits through a group medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, life and AD&D insurance program. CAPSLO pays the full amount (100%) of the premiums to cover full-time (regular, seasonal, and limited term) employees. Eligible employees may elect, at their own cost, to have medical, dental and vision insurance coverage for their dependents. Additionally, CAPSLO offers a Long Term Disability ("LTD") insurance program.
Retirement Savings Plan
CAPSLO offers eligible employees the opportunity to contribute a portion of their earnings to a Section 403(b) Retirement Plan. Full-time employees are 100% vested upon enrollment into the plan. CAPSLO matches 60% of every dollar contributed up to an annual maximum of 15% of your annual salary (not to exceed IRS limits).
Twelve paid holidays* and one paid Personal Holiday during the course of each calendar year.
CAPSLO awards 80-160 hours of vacation annually with a maximum accrual of 320 hours, depending on years of service. Paid Sick time is accrued at 8 hours per month with a maximum accrual of 280 hours.

Performs routine and emergency repairs to insure proper and safe operation of CAPSLO facilities. Performs building, plumbing, and equipment maintenance; janitorial services; and grounds keeping. Actual assigned duties may vary by location and particular work site needs. Priorities for special projects will be set with the assistance of the Facilities Supervisor and Program Director(s). Supports CAPSLO's mission by performing a variety of facilities related tasks as needed to ensure safe operations and remain in compliance with regulations, as well as providing a comfortable environment for staff, children and clients.
Responsibilities & Duties:
1.Makes minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
2.Performs grounds keeping year round including; watering, lawn mowing, weeding, and cleaning of yard on a weekly or as needed basis.
3.Provides janitorial services to facilities, as needed. Janitorial duties include; sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, picking-up and emptying the trash, waxing floors, and shampooing rugs.
4.Cleans and maintains equipment and tools used on the job.
5.Maintains and purchases inventory of cleaning and gardening supplies.
6.Picks up and disposes of trash and debris.
7.Performs other duties as assigned.
8. Performs Preventative Maintenance in accordance with Facilities Department
Responsibilities & Duties, Level II:
Includes all responsibilities & duties listed above and the following:
1.Performs and/or schedules minor routine building and playground repairs to ensure proper and safe operation of facilities.
2.Performs repairs, such as, light carpentry, painting, minor plumbing and center equipment.
3.Oversees, on occasion, part time employees in day-to-day maintenance and janitorial tasks.
4.Makes recommendations to supervisor or program director on major repairs and maintenance issues.
5.Provides, as necessary, direction to Maintenance Technician I.
6.Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities & Duties, Level III:
Includes all responsibilities & duties listed above and the following:
1.Schedules and performs all preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds. Schedule, train and supervise helpers (employers and clients) as needed.
2.May assist in overseeing and training clients or Maintenance Technicians I & II on day-to-day maintenance and janitorial tasks.
3.Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements:
Maintenance Technician I
One year recent experience in performing minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, building maintenance, janitorial, landscape maintenance or any combination of education, training or experience which will provide the required knowledge skills and abilities. Knowledge of operation of light equipment, hand tools and tools commonly used in maintenance and repair.
Maintenance Technician II
Minimum of two years general experience performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, building maintenance, janitorial, landscape maintenance or any combination of education, training or experience, which will provide the required knowledge skills and abilities. Must be experienced in the operation of light equipment, hand tools and tools commonly used in maintenance and repair.
Maintenance Technician III
Minimum of three years general experience performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, building maintenance, janitorial, landscape maintenance or any combination of education, training or experience, which will provide the required knowledge skills and abilities. Must be experienced in the operation of light equipment, hand tools and tools commonly used in maintenance and repair.
1.Must have strong verbal communalization skills.
2.Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one's duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices; and act in such a manner as to assure maximum safety one's self, fellow employees, clients and children.
3.Must be able to relate well to all people of the community regardless of color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability or socio-economic level.
4.Employment is contingent upon meeting all job requirements and background requirements: criminal history check, education verification, acknowledgement of child abuse reporting responsibility, criminal record statement, etc.
5.Offers of employment are contingent upon receiving a criminal history clearance from the Department of Justice prior to beginning work
6.Must have dependable, insured transportation and valid California Driver's License (mileage to be reimbursed) and acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required.
7.Must provide an acceptable health screening and tb clearance (skin test or chest X-ray) prior to beginning employment.
8.Must be able to work occasional evenings & weekends.
9.Employment in Head Start, Early Head Start and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Programs is contingent upon approval of the Policy Council.
Other requirements specifically for Maintenance Technician II & III:
1.Must be able to read and work with drawings, sketches, and diagrams.
2.Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level. Must be able to use hand tools, lawn movers and must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. May be exposed to grass, plants and pollen.
