 Job Title: Outside Sales Representative/Project Manager

Reports To: Senior Project Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: Base salary plus commission/discretionary bonus

Benefits: Medical and dental insurance allowance, paid holidays, 401(k)

Since 2003 Home Power Systems has proudly served as the Premier authorized Generac & Kohler equipment dealer for Upstate and Western NY. HPS is the leading installer of automatic home standby generators in the region, having installed over 4,500 home standby generators and has over 7,000 service and preventative maintenance customers. We provide our customers with the highest quality design, sales and execution services for automatic standby generators and are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team.

Home Power Systems is seeking a reliable individual for the role of an Outside Sales Representative/Project Manager. Previous sales experience required, electrical or mechanical experience strongly preferred. The individual will travel to homes to perform residential site surveys and manage installation projects from initial sales visit through completion of job.  Other duties include learning new products and product updates, payment management, and prospect conversion in the greater Buffalo region.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform above duties satisfactorily. Strong sales background is essential for this position. Training/Certification:

Must have the ability to learn and work with various technology including company phone system, learn basic mechanical and electrical concepts as it pertains to generators, and training on standby generator product lines. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a consumer sales related business is strongly preferred.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

Language Ability/Communication:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance instructions, scope of work documents, writing contracts, keeping detailed notes on projects, and successfully prequalify incoming prospects. Must have the ability to write reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of organization is crucial.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, taxes and sales for writing contracts and collecting payments.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form with multiple responsibilities and functions at a given time.  Multi-tasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously are essential.

Computer Skills:

Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and internet.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must balance frequent travel with administrative time in an office setting.  Successful candidate will possess a high energy level, strong work ethic, desire continuous growth, ability to multitask, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The employee, on occasion will be required to lift objects of 50 pounds or more. While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be asked to sit for extended periods of time while doing administrative work related to projects.

Quality Control:

Responsible for logical, well organized scheduling for sales calls, consistent follow up with existing and potential customers, strong communication with Operations team to ensure the full completion of each installation. The employee will also be responsible for quality of each installation and ensuring the complete satisfaction of each customer.
