The dispatcher is responsible for the daily planning, communication, and organization of outbound deliveries for both CMC and 3rd party drivers. This can also include the scheduling of inbound deliveries, assignment of trailers, working with the field for scheduling, scheduling maintenance for equipment, maintaining records, or numerous other activities as they relate to transportation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule CMC and 3rd Party DOT drivers to be at customer sites for delivery.
Assigning which CMC drivers will go to each site and creating a daily schedule for them.
Assisting with CMC Driver DriveCam video reviews, Infinity Videos, PeopleNet Units, and maintaining DOT compliance where needed.
Working with the shop scheduler to assign carriers, trailers, and delivery times for loads.
Assist Maintenance to keep equipment inspected and make repairs where needed.
Work with Shop Superintendent to make sure materials are coming in when needed
Work with carriers to negotiate freight rates as well as review invoices for accuracy
Assist Sales with freight rates when needed
Working with Contracts Administrator to set up new carriers and assist with paperwork (Insurance, W9, Carrier Authority)
Various paperwork organization (BOL’s, POD’s, Trailer Maintenance files, etc.)
Work with other CMC locations to support business needs
Maintain communication across all lines of operations to keep internal and external customer service levels high.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong oral and written communication necessary
- Some knowledge of DOT standards is a plus
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Transportation industry and Pinnacle system experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
High School Diploma or GED
Some College preferred
Bilingual a plus
