Human Resources Generalist
ABOUT THE HR GENERALIST: CCAD's Human Resources Department [HR] is seeking an HR professional who enjoys fast-paced roles, can work independently with little supervision, is a critical thinker, and has the ability to multi-task to fill this role. The HR staff is a highly collaborative and cohesive team, providing a range of high-quality services for our faculty, staff, and students. Principally, the HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day management of HR operations, which means that they manage the administration of the policies, procedures and programs of the college. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of human resources experience. We are dedicated to our mission of being an agile, trusted, strategic partner who delivers sustainable service and solution that contribute to the CCAD's success through the attraction, retention and engagement of a talented creative, diverse and inclusive workforce.
SUMMARY The Human Resources Generalist assists the Associate Vice President for Human Resources in managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. The HR Generalist manages the administration of the general employment policies, procedures and programs of CCAD, in addition to compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. This position will require a significant amount of independence and self-direction to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in general HR functions to include: new hire orientation, performance management, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) data management, employee relations, training and employee development, employment related activities that may also include applicant screening, recruiting and job posting activities, and interviewing. The ideal candidate will be an experienced well-rounded HR professional who has a passion to promote efforts for a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment and community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist's job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required in this job include close vision. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 10-25 pounds.
COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.

JOB DUTIES (includes but is not limited to the following):
- Work performed is under the supervision of the AVPHR and in cooperation/collaboration with other Human Resources team members.
- Support the AVPHR in educating all faculty & staff with enforcing college policies.
- Responsible for assisting with and performing general daily HR functions including administrative, payroll, and employment related activities.
- Responsible for the student employment, and other Instructor contract management and payroll processing functions.
- Analyze and provides data reporting to the AVPHR on DEI statistics on hiring, retention, and other areas of importance.
- Assigns all new hire and annual required compliance training for faculty and staff.
- Responsible for the annual performance evaluation updates, launch, assignment, and tracking.
- Oversee the adjunct contract process.
- Manages and collaborates with IT to properly monitor the adjunct system termination process function.
- Manage, track, and administer employee FMLA & all leave of absences.
- Oversee and manage all unemployment claim responses and appeals.
- Assist AVPHR with Title IX employee cases.
- Serves on committees for Employee Engagement, Health & Wellness, Safety, DEI Strategic Planning Pod, & Commission, and Core Values Awards. Serves as the Chair and Lead for the annual Health & Wellness Fair.
- Responsible for assisting with the department's employment and recruitment function.
- Responsible for serving as the department's liaison and initial contact for faculty, staff, and student employees. This includes responding to employees needs in a friendly, efficient, professional manner, responding to emails, and/or directing employee to the appropriate person and/or department.
- Ensures all federal, state postings, and required employee postings are updated.
- Responsible for maintaining employee records. Allows access to employee HR files by supervisors and employees according to policy and maintains security, integrity and confidentiality of files during review
- Performs other H.R. functions as necessary; This could include serving on committees, strategic planning pods, representing the department in special functions or events, serving as a backup to the HR Coordinator, and assisting with some payroll administration tasks, assisting with education and training programs and ordering of department equipment and supplies as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Comprehensive and proficient computer skills with the ability to navigate complex systems, reports, and demonstrated skills in database management.
- Excellent computer skills, knowledge of (Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Paycor- Payroll &, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), PowerCampus etc.
- Must have HR competence and knowledge with HR processes.
- Must have proficient knowledge of FMLA tracking, law/regulation, and STD medical leave administration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and best practices both federal and state.
- Strong organization, and time management skills and is comfortable working in a highly visible role.
- Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking and willing to take initiative and work independently when needed. Strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Positive, personable, reliable, people person who enjoys working with a diverse range of individuals.
- Able to follow directions accurately and without hesitation and willing to take initiative and work independently when needed.
- Exhibits professional integrity and a sense of responsibility and accountability.
EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or relevant field required.
- Specific human resources education and training; Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Certification PHR-CP or SPHR-SCP is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in HR field with progressive working knowledge of applicable EEO and Employment Law, FMLA administration, duties involving employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation and/or training required.
