Job Description

POSITION: Controller #1515

In support of our mission, Columbia Industries is seeking highly qualified applicants to fill the Controller position in our Finance and Accounting department. This position reports to and works closely with the CFO. The required duties are to manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Finance Department. This includes direct oversight of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, month-end close and monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Some critical functions expected of this position are: Implementation of accounting pronouncements and changes; maintaining and ensuring proper use of chart of accounts; reviewing and approving accounting work and processes such as journal entries, A/R adjustments, financial & regulatory reports; managing accounting staff work assignments and workloads; designing and implementing internal controls; banking and accounting systems management; budget preparation; performing complex accounting estimates and related supporting documentation; assisting with accounting staff duties as needed, monthly financial reporting and periodic regulatory reporting.


We view the Controller as a critical role in the Finance and Accounting department and as a key liaison with other departments and four commercial, for-profit subsidiaries. Consequently, we are seeking an experienced, committed accounting professional who possesses not only top-tier technical accounting skills but also a positive and impactful personality and strong, proven management abilities. A BA in Accounting/Finance or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required. CPA or equivalent work experience is preferred. Ideally, you will have both for-profit and not-for-profit expertise but both are not required. At least five years of management experience or the talent to have achieved a similar level of expertise. A minimum of five years of related accounting experience. Payroll and accounts payable experience with understanding of payroll laws and requirements, attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines are necessary for this position. As is a compelling personality and an effective leadership style. Must have excellent Excel and QuickBooks experience. Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Other hours as needed to meet deadlines. PAY: DOQ. Exempt-Benefited position.
