We are currently seeking a Accounting Assistant that is a well-organized individual with strong communication and customer service skills to perform to join our great team of professionals for immediate start!

Job Description:
Small service company located in Washington, DC seeks a well-organized individual with strong communication and customer service skills to perform accounts payable and receivable, billing/invoicing duties, as well as various administrative duties, as needed. This position requires an individual with a minimum educational achievement of a bachelor's degree. We require a highly motivated, proactive, dependable/reliable, and responsible hire to fill this position. We are seeking a professional who works well as an individual and as part of a team.
Qualifications:

  • Two-year college degree or equivalent experience in accounting
  • Minimum of one year of administrative experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (formulas, vlookup, pivot tables)
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains is required Ability to demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Proven dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Proven reliability, dependability, and motivation
  • Excellent organization and communications skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional client service

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for a 40-hour work week, five days a week, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm. Must be on time for work. Will not tolerate tardiness or unexcused absence from work
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable billing and certified payroll
  • Assist with billing process: creating & processing invoices, sending invoices to clients, performing collections, processing payments and filing. The billing task includes working closely with supervisor for accurate processing of invoices
  • Must be on time for work. Will not tolerate tardiness or unexcused absence from work. Work with customers to reconcile accounts, perform collections, and work with collection agencies, if necessary, to obtain overdue payments
  • Process credit card charges and prepare cash deposits
  • Prepare contracts and proposals
  • Assist in any clerical duties, such as filing, photocopying, faxing, scanning documents as well as preparing certified mail, data entry, daily logging, and any various projects as requested by management
  • Assist with answering telephones and organizing and maintaining office files

- Unused hours of paid time off will not carry over to the following year of employment

- Any unused paid time off will be paid out to Employee after each anniversary date

Paid Holidays: There are eight (8) paid holidays during the calendar year.
