POSITION SUMMARY


The Director of Information Technology (IT) will be accountable for providing technical leadership, expertise and support for CAC?s information systems. This position will be responsible for partnering with multiple groups across the organization (Programs, Operations, Finance, Research and Evaluation, Development, Communications and Human Resources) with the goal of understanding the current information systems state, identifying gaps and needs, and ultimately developing and implementing a future information systems and risk management roadmap for CAC. Partnership with department leaders will be imperative for the success of this role.


The Director of IT will be responsible for creating and executing the strategic direction for the information systems at CAC. This will include researching new potential technology vendors, leveraging our existing technology, assessing risk, and prioritizing the needs of the organization. The Director of IT will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be located in Chapel Hill, NC.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


+ Establishing project portfolio and roadmap to execute and deliver the agreed-upon strategy.


+ Collaborating with internal leaders to translate business requirements into technology projects. Implementing, managing, and delivering those projects on time.


+ Managing external team of developers to build and launch a knowledge sharing platform, maintain and implement ongoing enhancements to GRACE (our student tracking system) and our website.


+ Planning and directing business systems strategic and long-range goals, including core CRM. Conducting organizational reviews to identify strengths and gaps and to evaluate operational effectiveness.


+ Advocating for process and systems changes that align IT best practices with business needs. Providing internal IT advisory and advocate for process improvement and system design.


+ Being able to translate complex requirements into a functional, information systems plan that meets CAC?s needs.


+ Preparing annual operational budget for IT expenditures and overall budget preparation for the department. Manages the secure operation, monitoring and maintenance of all hardware and software in the organization.


+ Monitoring information technology hardware and application performance to ensure they are setup for high availability and performance, testing for validity of results, accuracy, reliability and conformance to established standards.


+ Providing and encouraging best practices related to technology.


+ Willing to go above and beyond when technical issues arise.


+ Actively listening, engaging and responding to business partners and leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


The Director of IT will be a senior-level leader with a minimum of a bachelor?s degree and 12+ years of information systems, data governance and/or risk management experience and 5+ years of project management in a supervisory position, business analysis, or experience in building business requirements. The Director of IT will possess the following competencies and attributes:

+ Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, including ability to establish strong relationships with all levels of the organization


+ Strong ability to coach, influence and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience


+ Ability to think strategically about issues and opportunities to properly assess impacts


+ Problem-solver who enjoys challenges and takes pride in designing and implementing solutions


+ Excellent communicator with the ability to listen and adapt


+ Support all College Advising Corps initiatives, activities, and functions
