The Operations Team Leader (OTL) is responsible for forming, developing, and coaching the operating team in a values-driven, performance-based environment. The OTL also leads the team to achieve key performance indicators and daily performance goals, coordinates activity between shifts and departments and keeps the plant informed about operations performed on a regular basis.  

The OTL coordinates the activity of up to 35 operations and maintenance team members, gathers data & identifies a daily strategy which maximizes product quality & productivity and facilitates troubleshooting of production problems on a timely basis.


Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding work safety standards according to the published Hill's Tom´s of Maine and Colgate Safety Policy.

  • Coordinates team training/activities regarding quality, sanitation, maintenance & productivity.

  • Facilitates a problem-solving environment that values and rewards team member involvement

  • Coaches team to handle daily activities such as timekeeping, vacation, overtime, & attendance

  • Help teams translate business needs into daily operations

  • Work with teams to increase innovation, technical expertise, analysis, and problem-solving skills

  • Utilizes continuous improvement methodology to drive performance goals

  • Participates in equipment commissioning to ensure effective operationalization and transfer of technology

  • Benchmarks best practices from existing Supply Chain facilities

  • Ensure personnel adheres to our policies, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices, including Quality Assurance and Food Safety (if applicable).


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Electronics

  • Must be proficient with the following computer programs: MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint

  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, or holidays and be on call.

  • +2 years of experience in manufacture plants/environment

  • People management experience

  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma

  • Strong selling skills. Ability to persuade, negotiate and close

  • Excellent skills in time management, planning and managing budgets

  • Good work ethic, professional appearance, and approach, high integrity
