Job Description

ColdQuanta seeks an innovative, collaborative team leader to proactively lead the transformation of ColdQuantas extensive portfolio of early TRL capabilities into meaningful high value applications. Through its highly successful 15 year history, ColdQuanta has conducted a wide variety of fundamental research in multiple aspects of quantum science and technology. In parallel to the continuation of our research efforts, this position will be responsible for moving selected elements of the research generated portfolio of capabilities through a development path that results in capabilities migrating into fielded systems. While some of those capabilities will find a direct path to commercialization, for many that path will be through a combination of government funding and working with the companies within the defense industrial base. The Vice President of Quantum Development will be responsible for establishing the prioritized roadmap for each of the current capabilities while simultaneously monitoring the research activities for other emerging high value candidates. The selected candidate will be a recognized leader in quantum science and will have experience transitioning technology from the lab to proven systems in an established commercial or defense application. He or she will be expected to promote the image and reputation of ColdQuanta across a wide variety of public, investor, government and commercial circles.

This position will report directly to the President of Research and Security Solutions and will serve as key resource for the ColdQuanta executive team.


  • Establishing programs that will result in moving technology from the lab to fielded applications.
  • Bachelors +15 years of experience in Scientific, Engineering or related Quantum fields, Masters + 12 years of experience in Scientific, Engineering or related Quantum fields, or PhD + 10 years of experience in Scientific, Engineering or related Quantum fields
  • Negotiate, commit and achieve aggressive goals for new business/ new forms of revenue.
  • Develop a robust understanding of ColdQuantas strategy and research portfolio and aggressively pursue funding opportunities that connect the prioritized list of capabilities into roadmaps that will accelerate the companys strategic growth.
  • Lead the development of business cases and detailed roadmaps that drive decisions.
  • Recommend investments to position the company for longer term growth.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for ColdQuantas Principle Investigators
  • Experience formulating capture plans
  • Proven ability to connect the dots between company capabilities and customer needs
  • Excellent customer relational skills, able to implement the voice of the customer
  • Strong communication skills with contributors and stakeholders
  • Experience developing budgets
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion approaches
  • Comfortable with conflict management methods
  • Strong decision analysis skills
  • Experienced with developing proposals for US Government funding
  • Deep understand of the US Defense Industrial base

  • Knowledgeable of multiple program execution and accountability methods and models
