Controller/CFO

We are currently seeking a Controller or qualified CFO to be part of the management team of our growing company and to lead our accounting operations team. Primary responsibilities are for accounting oversight and financial management and to ensure quality execution for all Cognito Motorsports, Inc. financial operations and for our affiliate business entities.

Qualified applicants must be well versed in all aspects of GAAP, bookkeeping best practices and California state and federal financial law, with extensive experience managing A/P, A/R, general ledger, wholesale/retail sales transactions, and financial statements.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial affairs of the company, including budgeting and operational cash management across departments, in coordination with department leaders.
• Work directly with company ownership on financial strategies and capitalization.
• Provide financial reports for internal management purposes and help ensure that financial performance metrics are understood and met across the company.
• Manage the credit activities of the company with financial institutions, private lenders, vendors, and customers.
• Work with operational and sales teams to manage inventories, bills of material, cost estimating tools, and ensure financial software and quoting tools are accurate.
• Oversee purchasing workflows and staff to ensure efficiency, error correction and prevention.
• Manage monthly close and reporting processes.
• Assist in management and reporting of financial requirements, contractual compliance, liability insurances, federally funded programs, pricing/margins and commission structures.
• Oversee payroll and benefits administration, including our 401k program and health insurances.
• Responsible for the organization, constant oversight and quality control of all accounting processes and works to ensure accuracy, error mitigation and swift correction.
• Prepare tax documentation for filing returns, or for filing through tax CPA specialist.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education – bachelor’s degree in accounting required, MBA, master’s in finance, CPA license or certification-in-process preferred.
• Controller - Minimum of five years of experience as a Controller, accounting manager or full-charge bookkeeper.
• CFO - Minimum of two years experience as a CFO in executive financial management role with an established company.

Requirements:

• Advanced Accounting/Bookkeeping skills and advanced knowledge of industry best practices.
• Fluent in English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced experience Sage accounting software or ERP-based Accounting Modules, with the aptitude to learn software quickly.
• Familiarity and operational understanding of manufacturing-based business accounting.
• Advanced skill in MS Excel, Outlook, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work independently, and to manage time, tasks, and records effectively and efficiently on schedule.
• Ability to skillfully sort and analyzes information and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and always acts ethically in the performance of the position duties.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
