Job Description

Position: Systems Administrator I (Windows)

Department: IT

Compensation Range: DOE

 

 

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for the upkeep and overall operational status of critical Tribal network and communication systems.

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization as it pertains to Windows Environment
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure pertaining to Windows environment.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Provide technical administration and expertise in an environment consisting of mixed NOS’s (Windows and Linux), various servers and roles: Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 Active Directory Infrastructure, Microsoft Exchange Server, VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory Group Policies, DFS, VPN, System Center 2012, Windows 7 ̶ 10 and domain account administration, DNS, DHCP, TCP-IP.
  • Manage Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM environments.
  • Office e20010, 2013 and 2016 technical experience.
  • Windows Domain Administration, AD, Exchange/Mail/Backup Recovery, File sharing, security, Ticketing system, documentation, SQL, ESRI support, ArcGIS.
  • Manage fault tolerance & Veem back-up systems.
  • Plan & manage shared resources..
  • Maintain technical documentation of the tribal network configuration (ie: network diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.).
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of all Tribal Facilities security and surveillance systems.
  • Maintain records and technical documentation for software equipment (including licensing).
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of all Tribal Facilities security and surveillance systems.
  • Provide help desk/telephone support to end-users.
  • Provide technical assistance for hardware and software purchases.
  • Provide network and application training to end-users and trainees.
  • Assist the IT Director, Sr Network Admin and Sys Admin (Linux) with telecommunications issues and reporting.
  • Assist the IT Director, Sr Network Admin and Sys Admin (Linux) in developing short & long-range goals & objectives.
  • Maintain professional certifications as required.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

· 5 years of progressive experience

· System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus

· Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent

· Experience with scripting and automation tools

· A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.

· Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols

· Cisco Certification(s)

· Microsoft Certification(s).

· Network + Certification.

· Security + Certification.

· A+ Certification.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year technical degree in networking / related field or equivalent.
  • 3 years managing a Microsoft physical & virtual server environment with strong TCP-IP networking experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good reading, writing, oral communication, and clerical skills.
