Project Designer
- Full-Time
About Us
We find inspiration in the immediate, local, and regional context of our projects. From this deep understanding of place, we combine design expertise, rigorous and forward-thinking research, and intuition to shape landscapes that complement nature and encourage community. This approach ensures refined projects that honor context, connection, and culture while enhancing the human experience.
Our Team
We are a collaborative and driven team. Each team member contributes to firm culture and ALL are co-creators in our organization. Professional growth and learning opportunities are present and we strive to facilitate an environment where each person’s unique skills and passions are recognized in the day-to-day contributions of our project work.
The Role
A Project Designer uses a strong suite of tools, combined with a learned knowledge of C+P’s
previous work and appropriate precedents, to develop the design of the project based on
established direction.
The Project Designer integrates design work seamlessly with that of a larger team, sets task priorities and performs quality assurance of their own work. Project Designers learn about the firm's four pillars: Design Excellence, Technical Excellence, People + Culture, Financial Sustainability and begin to understand how they can integrate these concepts into their design work.
The Project Designer contributes to the development of graphics and maintains our graphic brand standards. They will be intimately involved in all aspects of a project including research, analysis and the development of the overall vision for a site's design and transformation. The project designer is expected to develop efficient software skills and workflows that are central to success in this role. They will also develop strong time management habits, and clear communication/collaboration techniques to mitigate any roadblocks that may arise.
The Project Designer is also proactive in checking their own work for accuracy and legibility, and actively gathers precedents and examples of exceptional graphics that they use as a guide to successful execution of their own work. Project Designers are introduced to the Project Delivery Manual and it is used as a resource to learn how to most effectively interface with the team as they collectively deliver work for a project. Proficiency should also be attained in firm standards such as managing files on the server, systems used in project management (e.g. agendas, file sharing, etc) and graphic brand and documentation standards. All of the above will assist in easing the transition to the Senior Designer role.
