Codexis, a Redwood City, CA based company is looking to hire a Sales Account Manager OEM Enzymes to join our Life Sciences team.

Our Life Sciences Performance Enzymes Division focuses on engineered novel enzymes that have applications in the sustainable manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, food, and industrial products, and in the creation of the next generation of life science tools. These unique enzymes drive product and process improvements across multiple industries and applications.
About the Opportunity:
The Sales Account Manager, Life Sciences is responsible the OEM portfolio which includes engineered enzymes which span across key application areas such as NGS, IVD and IVT. The ideal candidate will have a strong molecular biology background with relevant scientific and sales experience in these Life Sciences workflows.
This position is part of the Life Sciences division and to be located and support the East Coast region. The candidate will have a keen interest in participating in and growing with a young business (or growing with a new division of a well-established organization). This position is a sales role that will interface with world class scientists, an ambitious business development team, and a seasoned legal team within Codexis, in addition to their customer counterparts. Previous experience communicating clearly to technical audiences with attention to key commercial details is critical. The successful applicant will have a unique mix of relevant R&D and sales experience, excellent communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally, curiosity, and both strong integrity and drive. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of OEM market drivers in the Life Science Tools and Molecular Diagnostics business.

In this role you will be responsible for:
- Adopt and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial focus that places Codexis at the forefront of life science technological development.
- Drive increased market share of Codexis OEM enzymes by expanding share of wallet with existing customers and securing business with new customers.
- Develop and expand relationships with current key account customers, prospective customers and KOLs to grow the Codexis OEM life science business.
- Customer Focus – Through consultative selling, enhance customer satisfaction and increase our competitive advantage while building trust and relationships with customers.
- Identify and qualify market opportunities for Codexis products and technology.
- Represent the VOC as a member of cross-functional development and business teams.
- Participate in trade shows, professional societies and associations, and conferences to maintain current knowledge of developments in the industry and identify potential opportunities.
- Research and understand growth opportunities for developing an effective sales strategy. Be able to communicate market information to commercial and Marketing teams.
- Sales Revenue/Budgets (Sales quota) – meet or exceed sales targets for assigned territory.
- Route qualified opportunities to business development partners for further development and closure.
- Consistent use of CRM database (SFDC) for input and output of customer information to increase sales effectiveness.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- B.S., M.S or PhD in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related fields.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in the life science industry with 5+ years in sales or related positions with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology and analytical techniques including PCR, RT-qPCR, nucleic acid isolation and manipulation, and NGS sample preparation technologies.
- Must exhibit strategic thinking, teamwork, planning, and execution backed by strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Exceptionally strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal, both online and in person.
- Demonstrated exceptional time management skills and a ‘can do’ approach to the challenges at hand.
- Demonstrated competence with MS Office, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom required.
- Experience and proficiency with Salesforce required.
- Ability to travel both locally and internationally (<30%).

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City, is $150,000 to $180,000.
