Job Description

Our client is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our growing team. The laboratory technician will support gene synthesis in a well-established life science service company at Redmond, WA. The position will perform PCR, DNA purification, DNA gel electrophoresis and other DNA analysis methods. The ideal candidate is a rigorous and hardworking scientist, highly organized and detail oriented, with good communication skills. The ability to contribute to a team effort is critical. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity. 

Responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician:  

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions (SOPs) and utilize basic DNA techniques (PCR, restriction digest, DNA purification,      DNA gel electrophoresis, etc.) for manufacture;  
  • Buffer, reagents, agarose gel and sample preparation (from written protocols); 
  • Assist other scientists in process development; 
  • Assist in production automation;  
  • Assist in lab management to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the manufacturing lab; 
  • Maintain and track lab inventory; 
  • Process and analysis data using Excel and data presentation using PowerPoint. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (molecular biology, Chemistry, biochemistry or related life science) with over 1 year of laboratory experience;  
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with molecular biology, especially PCR, DNA purification and analysis; 
  • Familiar with using single and multi-channel pipettes, in 96/384-well plate formats;  
  • Previous lab experience preferred (undergraduate or working experience); 
  • Comfortable with repetitive bench work; 
  • Willing to work a possible flexible shift schedule;
  • Proficient PC user, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Quick learner, work efficiently and independently in a dynamic team environment; 
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate well with others; 
  • Needs to be familiar with laboratory safety practices; 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet defined deadlines 
  • Must be thorough, detail oriented and accurate to produce high quality data; 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills;
