The Student - Library Aide is responsible for providing support to the Library Department by performing a variety of computer, clerical, and library duties in a school library, and providing general information and assistance to students and staff.
Note: Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.

Operates all computers, printers and software applicable to the library/media center, including use of CD- ROM, Internet, electronic catalog circulation program, word processing, desktop publishing and spreadsheet applications
Assists students and staff in using online or CD-ROM reference databases
Assists staff and students to locate and check out books and materials
Assists in the instruction of staff and students in the use and operation of networked computers, software and related resources
Operates audiovisual equipment such as the laminating machine, printer, microfiche readers, and copy machine
Performs a variety of clerical duties, including processing and maintaining library media, entering records and files, maintaining schedules for use of computers, library media center, books and related reference materials, and assembling packets and materials for students
Helps conduct periodic inventories of book collection, materials, software and equipment as assigned, participates in ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment, store and discard materials according to standard procedures
Helps maintain the physical appearance and ease of use of the library
Evaluates and maintains orderliness of shelved materials, shelve books, periodicals and newspapers, pulls and routes materials in need of mending, binding, repairing, or discarding
Supervises the library and the computer lab
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and Experience Requirements:
Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer
Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A or higher
Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of the proper operation of and the ability to use personal computers and standard office equipment
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students and the public
Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
