Job Description: Announcement #: 3682 Opening Date: 21 September 2020 Pay Plan/Series/Pay Band: NF-1088-03 Closing Date: 28 September 2020 Work Schedule: Temp Full Time NTE 180 days Position: Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Theater Mgr) Salary: $35,568 and OCONUS COLA 7.18% Who May Apply: All Sources Location: Kodiak, AK MWR Billiken Theater DUTIES: Responsible for the overall management and direction of the 400-seat movie theater on Base Kodiak. Plans and promotes the theater to include scheduling and ordering movies, scheduling use for training and all hands events. Assists in negotiation of agreement with the Navy Motion Picture Service, and prepares appropriate publicity releases in support of the movie theater. Responsible for all equipment, maintenance and takes appropriate action to correct all maintenance problems. Supervise and trains employees, plans work schedules, appraises performances, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions Prepares and submits annual operating budget requirements for appropriate and non-appropriate funds. Directs the operations of a short order concession stand. Orders inventory through venders and prepares items for retail sale. Conducts monthly and spot inventories; reconciles daily sales receipts and makes deposits. Performs other related duties as assigned. Please see additional information on how your application is evaluated. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Minimum: 1. Professional knowledge of the goals, principles, objectives, methods and techniques of movie theater operations acquired through formal education or a combination of education and experience. 2. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of theater equipment. 3. Work experience supervising support staff. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 5. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office. Preferred (in addition to the minimum): 1. Three years’ experience that demonstrates professional knowledge of movie theater operations to include retail, supervising support staff, and personnel procedures. OTHER ESSENTIAL INFORMATION: - Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes. - Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless covered by an exemption under the Selective Service Law, in accordance with 5 U.S. Code 3378. Selectee will be required to provide a written statement regarding his registration status, unless he is exempted by this statute. - Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check US Citizens and non-citizens authorized to work in the US, must have lived in the US for three of the last five years, and meet residency requirements set forth below: 1.Resided in the United States or its protectorate or territories (excluding short trips abroad, such as vacations); 2.Worked for the United States government as an employee overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or 3.Have been a dependent of a United States Federal or military employee serving overseas. Exceptions may be granted to applicants if they can provide complete stateside coverage information required to make a suitability/security determination.
