Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Controller is a strategic leader responsible for implementing best in class technologies and processes for internal and external financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations. The successful person will be an adept communicator and collaborator who can establish a strong partnership with leaders across the business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data and ensuring compliance with applicable financial accounting and reporting standards.
Assist in the development, implementation and adherence of relevant financial policies and controls.
Establish and up-level every aspect of accounting operations: implement best practice processes & policies, automate wherever possible, and streamline compensation practices & processes.
Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions.
Support the company-wide focus on customer experience by collaborating with billing, invoicing, and collections teams to ensure all are accurate and timely.
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements, study existing and new legislation, anticipate future legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, file reports, and advise management on needed action.
Identify and manage special projects that enhance the operational efficiency of the Finance organization and overall financial performance. Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Train and develop a top performing finance team. Ensure clear, weekly communication centered on performance expectations, positive/constructive feedback, and progress within relative tasks and goals.
Share best practices, seek out professional development opportunities for team members, and empower each team member as an employee and an individual.
Set clear, measurable, and comprehensive goals, provide individual support, direct guidance (short and long-term) and career development as needed to align individual career goals and company expectations.
Administer the performance review process; generating detailed feedback on individual performance as in relationship to team objectives, goals, best practices and procedures, and other company values.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
10+ years of professional accounting or finance experience, preferably within a publicly traded company.
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
Demonstrated leadership experience (as a controller or manager) within a high functioning accounting organization, coupled with a track record of successfully developing, implementing, and evolving systems, processes, and controls in a fast-growing company.
Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS/GAAP.
Experience developing and managing relationships with external auditors and vendors.
Experience leading, managing, and coaching direct reports.
Proven Microsoft Office Suite skills, including advanced Excel skills, ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.
The ability to set a clear vision and establish understanding of both the details and the bigger picture.
Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility and a willingness to get the job done and deliver results.
Excellent attention to detail, organization skills, and follow-through, coupled with the ability to ensure that all items are addressed and finalized in a timely manner.
An unflappable approach and a calm outward demeanor with the ability to positively relate to all levels, both within the organization and with our external customers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide accurate and timely information in a succinct and easy to understand manner.
