We're looking for someone to join our team as a Facilities Manager who:

Under the general direction of the Director of General Services, rules and regulations of funding agencies, licensing and CSV policies and procedures, this position is responsible for operational activities of the General Services Department of all sites of the Clinica Sierra Vista. The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing all maintenance and housekeeping department personnel, including contracted services. This position works in conjunction with the Director of General Services in planning, budgeting, and scheduling work and projects for each health center. Responsible for collecting estimates on equipment, labor materials, and other related costs. The Manager is also responsible for developing and keeping within the operating budget. 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee daily operations in accordance with established policies and procedures and within contractual or license requirements.
  • This position supervises Facility Supervisors, Housekeeping and Grounds Keeping Personnel.
  • Establish and oversee that clear communication exists between the division under his/her job duties and CSV corporate branches, divisions and departments.
  • Review policies and procedures pertaining to above functions, recommend new policies, make suggestions to change or modify policies as needed.
  • Fill in for the Director of General Services as needed.
  • Work with Nursing, Quality Departments and Director of General Services on Joint Commission EOC Standard Compliance. Survey facilities to capture/report current conditions.
  • Participate on committees as assigned. 
  • Participate in local health care emergency preparedness scheduled events, drills and quarterly meetings. 
  • Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and layout, and facility expansions. Conduct periodic inspections of buildings, evaluate the complexity of any needed repairs to determine best solution, project job cost, and oversee the implementation of approved procedures to ensure the ongoing efficient operation of assigned buildings.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with all department units to keep abreast of their service needs and to be able to anticipate problems before they become crises.
  • Plan budget and schedule facility modifications, including cost estimates, which will be presented to the Director of General Services for review and final approval. 
  • Supervise and train staff in the approved practices and procedures for proper facility maintenance and in the implementation and observance of all approved safety procedures to ensure compliance with existing safety regulations. 
  • Responsible for the facility operating management at all locations.  Responsible for maintaining all equipment of that site or sites with all that is needed to run the facilities in good order. Manage preventive maintenance of facility equipment, including HVAC and office equipment.  
  • Responsible for the division at that site or sites as assigned, hire, direct and evaluate department staff of that site(s). Conduct performance appraisals, maintain time and attendance records and handle disciplinary problems of assigned building service staff. 
  • Other related work as directed by the Director of General Services.  
  • Maintain a master file of all Safety Data Sheets and distributes to clinic departments as appropriate.
  • Maintain a master file of fire extinguishers in service to include serial number, location and inspection reports in cooperation with the Emergency Management and EOC Coordinator.
  • Provide on-going educational sessions and assistance for relevant safety issues to all levels of staff as appropriate; seek ways to promote safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Oversee and manage ongoing process improvement for Safety and Security Management, Hazardous Materials/Waste Management, Fire Safety Management, Medical Equipment Management, and Utility Management.
  • Maintain current certifications, testing, and inspections for facilities.
  • Conduct orientation for newly hired workers and engage in site inspections to evaluate subcontractor performance.
  • Direct staff in the planning, coordination, and provision of a variety of support services to CSV departments, including but not limited to risk management, facilities maintenance, purchasing, property management, vehicle operations and maintenance, along with supervision of mail couriers.

You'll be successful with the following qualifications:

  • Associate Degree level training in Business Administration, Public Administration or Health Administration, or related field.  Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a Associate Degree. A minimum of five (5) years hands-on experience in facilities management within the health care industry will be considered in lieu of formal education. 
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience, at a supervisory level or higher position, in management of a multi-functional department servicing the healthcare community.
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional or Certified Healthcare Environmental Professional preferred.  required.  This certification is an expectation of employment, Must be obtained within 18 months of employment. 
  • California Department of Education-Accredited Project Management Certification preferred. This certification is an expectation of employment, must be obtained within 18 months of employment. 
  • California Department of Education-Accredited Safety and Risk Management Certification preferred. This certification is an expectation of employment, must be obtained within 18 months of employment. 
  • Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of California.  
  •  Must adhere to Clinica Sierra Vista’s employee health/immunization requirements or provide a valid exemption request for subsequent approval.
