Cleveland Play House (CPH), recipient of the 2015 Regional Theatre Tony Award, seeks a creative, innovative, and passionate storyteller to join the marketing team. The Audience Engagement & Accessibility Manager works under the supervision of the Director of Marketing to support strategic goals, outreach activities, increase audience engagement, and increase earned revenue. This compassionate team member will support CPH's by developing and implementing innovative strategies to transform our brand into an experience that fosters a sense of belonging for all audiences.


The Audience Engagement & Accessibility Manager must be a strategic thinker, team player, and should have knowledge of target marketing strategies, database analytical resources, and best practices for delivering accessibility services for theatre audiences. The performance of duties outlined below must be carried out within the mission of CPH: to inspire, stimulate, and entertain diverse audiences across Northeast Ohio with plays and theatre education programs of the highest professional standards. An integral member of the communications, marketing, and audience services teams, this role is responsible for following tasks and duties:


  • Act as an advocate for persons with disabilities and stay current with best practices in the area of inclusive access and applicable accessibility laws.
  • Collaborate with artistic, education, development, and production on various projects and events for enhancing the CPH user experience.
  • Research tools and resources for improving and enhancing accessibility services.
  • Participate in building the schedule of accessible performances to meet the demands of CPH's diverse audiences.
  • Support the creation and auditing of performance event surveys and audience feedback.
  • Develop and implement operational plans for accessibility programming, which includes ASL-interpreted performances, audio-described performances, open-captioned performances, as well as providing sensory resource tools, language interpretation, etc.
  • Develop and manage ticket promotions, including accessible ticketing for students, seniors, patrons with disabilities, military personnel, low-income families, etc.
  • Be the CPH Audience Services representative at performances as needed to liaise with the Playhouse Square House Management team and volunteer ushers, set-up or refresh signage, assist audiences with questions and way finding, and ensure accessibility resources are available and ready for audiences.
  • Ensure all video programming and content has closed captions and/or alternate versions that are accessible to the Deaf community; and printed materials are in accessible formats, including but not limited to Braille, large print, and Spanish translated.
  • Ensure assistive listening devices are available and are in working condition for audience members who are hard of hearing.
  • Manage expenses for accessibility services, targeted promotions, and community memberships.
  • Supervise and manage projects assigned to department associates, interns, or volunteers.


  • Audit, analyze, and generate reports on digital marketing metrics and audiences demographics to empower strategies and campaigns to attract and retain patrons across product lines.
  • Develop and activate data-driven strategies to increase lead generation, engagement metrics, and consumer conversion.
  • Work with Director of Marketing and Associate Director of Marketing to identify viable community and promotional partnerships for lead generation and diversifying audiences.
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Creative Director on strategies and deliverables for maintaining brand, expanding reach, and enhancing the user experience.
  • Support drafting/editing/proofing copy for print collateral and digital communications.
  • Distribute outreach materials to community members, partner organizations, and businesses.
  • Monitor social media activity, providing timely responses to messages maintaining brand voice.
  • Assist with email marketing campaigns, providing data-driven recommendations for subject lines, content strategy, and audience engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Marketing.


  • 3+ years of experience in customer service, community relations, or relatable field/industry.
  • Strong organizational, project and time management skills, as well as presentation skills.
  • Experience/working knowledge of Web Analytics, SEO/SEM, Google Analytics and AdWords.
  • Experience/working knowledge of email marketing, surveying, social media curation.
  • Experience with core Microsoft Office software, CRM or ticketing software, and Google Suite.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective, tactful, and professional manner in writing, by telephone, through face-to-face conversation, and in front of large groups.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.


  • Experience working with in performing arts industry or non-profit sector a plus.
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve, with flexibility and capability to think creatively.
  • Ability to work independently, managing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt easily to changing situations and priorities, exercise good judgment and stay focused on overarching goals.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or ASL.
  • Willingness to commit to personal and professional development opportunities.

Salary range for this position is $36,000 to $40,000. Benefits package includes group health, paid vacation as well as the opportunity to participate in a 401(k) plan. Optional dental and vision plan available. Some nights and weekends are required. Some traveling required. Some remote working opportunities may be available.
