Essential Job Functions
  • Assists with day-to-day operations of the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and Social Hall, including, but not limited to, events, rehearsals, performances, changeovers, and maintenance.
  • Coordinates and implements user group technical requests while on-site.
  • Completes and distributes written Tech Reports for rehearsals, performances, and events.
  • Coordinates with other staff including other technicians, Box Office Associates, House Managers, and full-time staff.
  • Conducts all work using City of Rockville, Civic Center, and Theatre policies and procedures, as well as by following general entertainment industry best practices.
  • Acts as technical supervisor for user groups in absence of full-time staff.
  • Provides quality customer service to a wide variety of clientele.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
  • Ability to lift, push, or maneuver up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Strong working knowledge of theatre lighting and sound equipment, including use and repair.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and execute written instructions and diagrams.
  • Possess strong critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work well with a team, both as a lead and in a support role.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Recreation and Parks requires all facility staff to get and maintain a valid and verified CPR, AED, and first aid certification. Certification is provided through the City of Rockville
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • All employees and volunteers who drive a City owned/leased vehicle or private vehicle on official City business must complete the Maryland Vehicle Administration MVA flagging form and be cleared. Employees and volunteers who possess a driver's license that is not issued by the State of Maryland must submit with the form with an original printout of their driving record. The information on the form will be used by the Department of Human Resources in accordance with the City's Driver's License Check and Flagging Program.

EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent 2-4 years of related professional experience, including lighting, audio, carpentry, & run crew.

EDUCATION:
Minimum A.A. degree in technical theatre or equivalent.

The schedule of work shifts will be different every week, and hours are based on the needs and event/program schedule at the F Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and for the City of Rockville. Work may be scheduled in the morning, evening, night, weekend, and some major holidays. Shift durations may be between a couple hours to over 12 hours. Can you handle a varying work schedule and work some major holidays?
