Richmond Heights Memorial Library, Richmond Heights, MO


POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Library Technology
REPORTS TO: Library Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt


JOB SUMMARY


The Richmond Heights Memorial Library is seeking a friendly and motivated Coordinator of Library Technology to handle all of the Library's technology needs. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and daily operation of the network and attached equipment including PCs, printers, receipt printers, scanners, and copiers. Software setup and maintenance including PC time and print management along with standard office software. This person will recommend equipment and assist with grant writing and management. This position is also responsible for assisting Library patrons and staff with one-on-one technology needs. Other library-related duties will apply.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a computer science or related field
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to instruct others
  • Must possess a high level of commitment to public service
  • Must have a sound knowledge of software, computer operations, systems architecture, hardware, and technology management techniques
  • High level of comfort working with technology including:
    • Network management, maintaining firewall security, troubleshooting
      OS/software errors, troubleshooting WiFi connectivity, installing/uninstalling
      software, system restore software and anti-virus measures, and researching
      and testing OS/software updates
  • Google suite and Wordpress experience desired
  • Experience with Polaris or other integrated library database systems preferred

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a PC, word processing, and e-mail
  • Ability to operate various types of Library equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to bend beneath desks and tables to connect cables and wires

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works cooperatively with the Director and Library staff to ensure high quality standards and services.

2. Designs, plans, implements and evaluates the present and future automation needs of the Library, making recommendations for improvements.

  • This involves monitoring current Library technology (such as hardware, software and networking equipment) and maintaining or recommending
    replacement technology.

3. Establishes preventive maintenance, security, backup and disaster recovery procedures.
4. Implements system hardware updates, software upgrades and manages licensing for Library programs.
5. Troubleshoots issues with computer hardware, printers, copiers, scanners and Library software.
6. Manages internal software programs including PC Reservation, LPTOne, MobilePrint, SmartShield, Polaris ILS system (or other library database system) and
Windows.
7. Develops and recommends policy and procedures for use of computers, computer systems, printers and copiers.
8. Oversees training and instruction for staff and patrons on computer services and other technologies in response to staff and community needs and interests.
9. Assists Library patrons using the public computers and technology by answering questions, searching the Web and teaching how to utilize software provided by the Library.
10. Develops staff and patron help guides and procedural documents as needed.
11. Communicates regularly and negotiates with vendors including GFI Digital, MOREnet and The Miller Group.
12. Compiles and interprets statistics or other data and prepares reports.
13. Works with Consortium Systems Administrator regarding Polaris Automation System.
14. Manages and updates Library website on Wordpress including monthly updates, promotional images, menu options and text, and planning for future website needs.
15. Assists patrons and staff at the Circulation or Reference desks as needed by checking library materials in and out, updating patron records and answering phone
calls.
16. Other duties as assigned.


SCHEDULE
This position works days, evenings and weekends.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS


Annual salary is $45,000.
