FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

ABOUT THE POSITION
A part-time position with Redwood City 2020 is a contract, grant funded position that will run through June 2020 with the possibility of continuation. It is scheduled to work 20 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekend, and reports to the Executive Director. Will lead and implement an innovative program in the community that uses family engagement as a powerful lever to accelerate young people's academic success, alleviate generational poverty, and create equity for all. Program objectives include: Transforming family engagement from participation-based to partnership-based and from deficit-oriented to strengths-oriented. The Program Coordinator will work with parents/caregivers and professional staff from schools and community-based organizations to support building their capacity to collaborate as partners in study success. This program utilizes and spreads innovative practices in community mobilizing and family-to-family outreach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and lead programmatic operations for Redwood City 2020's family engagement initiative, Socios for Success, a program that builds authentic partnerships between parent/caregivers and educators to support student success.
Lead the activities of the Socios for Success Community Mobilization Teams (CMTs) by preparing for meetings, conducting community outreach and recruitment, implementing the
Work with professional staff at schools and community organizations to plan programming at their sites and offer family engagement leadership strategy session and coaching.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Has Interest and commitment to the mission of Redwood City 2020; has previous experience assisting with the creation of content for and co-facilitation of community education trainings, has experience helping to plan and outreach for events, workshops, and trainings, has strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills; is detail-oriented and deadline-driven; has demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training & Experience
A Bachelor degree or equivalent; 1 - 3 years of work experience in a program coordinator role. Experience facilitating meetings and workshops; Bilingual Spanish/English. Working with parents/caregivers and professional staff from schools and community-based organizations is preferred.
Licenses & Certificates: Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
