The City of Johns Creek is seeking an Intern to support the Human Resources Department. The intern will assist the Human Resources Department on several projects that may include:

Performance Review Enhancement Project:

  • Learning about performance management in government and the latest trends to ensure that Johns Creek is up-to-date on its practices.

Wellness Champion:

  • Learning about the emphasis on whole body wellness, helping find speakers and compelling topics to drive awareness and participation within the Johns Creek employee population.

Social Media Niche For Recruiting:

  • Finding those sites that work for the government in career openings that we have that are most effective in cost and quality candidates.

New Application Tracking Platform (ATS):

  • Help Johns Creek transition to a new ATS system to maximize our job sites and candidate pool.

Other Job Duties:

  • Assist with filing and a digital HR Library.
  • Creating marketing and recruiting materials.
  • Assist with creating and updating HR-related policies.
  • Assist with creating and updating training materials.


  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Effective people skills
  • General understanding of HR functions and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Highly computer literate and capable in email, MS Office, and related business and communications tools
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail

The Human Resources Department Intern's pay is $21.50/hour.  This temporary part-time position is not eligible for the City of Johns Creek's benefits package. This internship will end before September 30, 2023. 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing in the normal audio range with or without correction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The employee will be assigned to an interior work area within an office building.  The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
