The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department is seeking a qualified professional to serve as an Engineering Manager to help with the the delivery of public infrastructure involving: streets, transportation, water, sanitary sewer, pavement, drainage, streetlights, signals, bridges, and railroad crossing improvements. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team comprising of a Communication Specialist, and a couple of Senior Engineering Technicians, all of whom are responsible for providing project support services associated with integrating, managing, executing and delivering quality products and services. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and facilitating meetings to reach desired outcomes, serve as a subject matter expert of specifications and construction standards and, while supervising staff, review plans, specifications and estimates of public infrastructure, including lead teams from various departments through the Governance Process related to creating, updating and maintaining City Standards. Candidates must be able to work within time constraints and have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, must have the ability to work independently or with a team under the direction of the City Engineer, and possess good oral and written communication skills. Although not required, preferred candidates should possess the following: Experience designing and reviewing plans and specifications associated with concrete structures An understanding of the PMBOK, an industry-recognized project management standard Demonstrated success in capital project delivery from initiation to close-out Demonstrated proficiency in all project management disciplines (scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, communication, etc.) AutoCad or GIS Experience Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field and Five (5) years of increasing responsible engineering construction management experience including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas Driver’s License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants with experience in capital improvement, street rehabilitation projects and/or infrastructure design/review of private development projects, including the design and review of concrete structures.
