RECREATION SPECIALIST - FACILITY ATTENDANT
 
 
HIRING DEPARTMENT:  Parks & Recreation
 
WORK LOCATION:  Centre Concord, 5298 Clayton Road, Concord 94521
                                                           
Centre Concord is a community center that is used for various activities, from small group use such as preschool programs and recreation classes, to large group use such as parties, trainings, and fundraisers.  The facility can accommodate up to 400 attendees with full use of the ballroom space.
 
HOURS:  15-20 hours per week, mostly weekends with some weekday evenings, possible holidays.  Hours are flexible.
 
SALARY:  Starting at $12.80/Hour

 THE POSITIONS:
 
The City of Concord's Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a friendly, customer service-oriented team player to join our recreation team at Centre Concord as one of our next Recreation Specialists. The Recreation Specialist will play an integral part of the facility rentals administration at Centre Concord, and will work as a team member of the Set-up Crew, or as a Center Representative.
 
The part time positions offer sick leave after 90 days.  There are no medical benefits.
 
Recreation Specialist - Facility Attendant (Setting Up Crew)
The Set Up Crew position requires heavy lifting and performs general custodial duties.  This individual will have the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions effectively and efficiently.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
 
  • Reading and following instructions for room set ups;
  • Completing room set ups and breakdowns, including all furniture and equipment;
  • Moving heavy equipment; moving tables, chairs, dance floor panels, podiums, etc.;
  • Working as a member of a team to complete all tasks assigned;
  • Paying close attention to detail;
  • Custodial duties include: mopping dance floor, cleaning trash lids, vacuuming carpet, taking out trash; and
  • Securing the building.
 
Recreation Specialist - Facility Attendant (During Event)
The Center Representative position will be the main contact to customers during classes, programs, and events. This individual will provide a high level of support for program participants and renters by being highly visible and responsive to customer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
 
  • Opening and closing the facility as scheduled for use;
  • Having strong working knowledge of the facility emergency procedures and the notification process;
  • Spot cleaning restrooms, restocking supplies, monitoring trash, and cleaning floor spills by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc.;
  • Completing room set-ups and breakdowns including furniture and equipment, for classes and events;
  • Conducting visual inspections of the facility every 30 minutes, ensuring that all policies and procedures are being adhered to and enforced, and that all safety and cleanliness standards are being met;
  • Responding to questions, complaints, and emergency situations; taking appropriate courses of action;
  • Notifying the supervisor when any safety concerns, facility issues, and event problems arise; and
  • Communicating with class instructors and customers attending classes.
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would likely provide the relevant knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  Generally, this will require:
 
Education
High school diploma or GED.
 
Experience
One or more years' experience in a customer service driven field is desirable.
 
Other requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must be able to lift/move 50-60 pounds.
