Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Donor Relations Officer is a 40 hour a week, remote position that reports directly to the Associate Development Director. The Donor Relations Officer will be responsible for identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts. This person will work within the guidelines, policies, procedures and mission of Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE), and it's sister organization Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Strategize with your team to create strong processes for major gift identification, cultivation, and solicitation.

  • Manage a portfolio of 50-100 major donors and prospects with the capacity to make gifts of $10,000 or more, helping cultivate strong relationships and solicit annual donations.

  • Ensure timely recognition of gifts and pledges.

  • Work closely with other Donor Relations Officers to ensure consistent use of communications and messaging.

  • Provide expertise on various forms of giving, including Qualified Charitable Distributions, gifts of stock, legacy giving, and Donor Advised Funds.

  • Leverage software platforms that support alternative giving methods, including Double the Donation, FreeWill, and WealthEngine.

  • Maintain performance standards and workflow processes through Salesforce.

  • Conduct research on prospective major donors, including individual philanthropists, foundations, and corporations.

  • Collaborate with program staff to tell CCL’s success stories and to build increased organizational support among major donors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 2-3 years of cultivating major gifts or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or CFRE preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication, listening, and presentation skills

  • Ability to interact with high-level donors and volunteers while advancing individual relationships that result in philanthropic contributions

  • Detail-oriented, organized, accountable, and deadline-driven

  • Motivated self starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective team player with the ability to work collaboratively with others

  • Capable of dealing with challenging personalities

  • Able to handle confidential information and/or issues using discretion and good judgment

  • Promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect through active listening

  • Alignment with the organization’s mission and values

  • Experience with MS Office suite, Gmail suite, Google Calendar, and Google Drive

  • Experience with Salesforce Lightning, FreeWill, Double the Donation, WealthEngine, and Candid preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

The person hired will use their own computer, internet service and mobile phone service. In a post pandemic era, the ability to travel domestically 4-6 times a year.
